(January 10th, 2008  -  Editor)          In an effort to smooth-over relations between the two late night talk shows, the host of the Tonight Show, Jay Leno, has agreed to make an appearance on rival talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the same night, Kimmel will appear on The Tonight Show. The history-making night is January 10th. First, Kimmel will travel to the NBC studios in Burbank to tape his appearance on The Tonight Show, then Leno will travel to downtown Los Angeles, to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Leno used humor in a press release announcing the softening of his former hard-line position against all other Los Angeles talk shows, saying "There are only three or five people in the world that know how tough this job is, Jimmy is one of them. It will be fun to discuss who's a good guest, who's a difficult guest and everything else that comes with sitting behind these desks."

Kimmel recognized the gesture from the front-runner in the Talk Show Wars and was hopeful that it was the start of better relations between the two hosts and the staff members of the two rival shows. "If Jay and I can come together and guest on each other's shows, then surely there is hope for peace in the Middle East."

The success of American Gladiators on NBC already has the executives at the network trying to expand the ratings by trying to include the audience who made the series a success on cable. In a rare move, the network will offer its owned and affiliated stations the chance to use the first three episodes of the action reality series in reruns during non-primetime time slots on the weekends of January 19th & 20th, January 26th & 27th and February 2nd & 3rd. The show originally debuted on cable and found success on Saturday afternoons.

In his press release, Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, called the move "A great post-premiere window to increase sampling for this tremendous new hit series,". But then media executives talk like that.

NBC News launched a new "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" experience online on January 9th, available at www.nightly.msnbc.com. The redesigned site, which was officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, gives the growing "Nightly News" online audience a TV-like viewing experience, as well as offering enhanced extensions.

The new site, powered by msnbc.com's recently released video player, delivers a large, high-quality video stream, nearly instantaneous video start, and a full screen viewing mode option. Consumers can now easily watch and discover news stories by using the new menu-style navigation tools in order to browse and shift seamlessly between each video segment.

"NBC News is a huge news organization. We traditionally air just a small fraction of the news we gather and report across this country and around the world each day. No more. This expansion means much more material available to the global audience we serve," said Brian Williams, Anchor and Managing Editor of "Nightly News. "The long reach of NBC News is now, more than ever, on display on every computer screen. NBC 'Nightly News' is about a whole lot more than our half-hour long newscast each night."
