Los Angeles, Ca., January 13th, 2009.          Year-Long 20th Anniversary Celebration Kicks Off With Poster Contest. The 1990s introduced us to rollerblading, grunge music, slap bracelets and a yellow animated family from Springfield that took America by storm. Some fads come and go, but 20 years later THE SIMPSONS remains timeless.

Beginning January 14, 2009, FOX and THE SIMPSONS will launch the “Best. 20 Years. CHEVY CHASE TO GUEST-STAR IN MULTI-EPISODE ARC ON NBC'S 'CHUCK' THIS SPRING

Universal City, Ca., January 15th, 2009.           Emmy Award-winning comedy legend Chevy Chase ("NBC's Saturday Night Live," "Caddyshack") will guest-star as an iconic computer genius who may be more than he appears on NBC's action-comedy series "Chuck" (Mondays, 8-9 p.m. ET) in a multi-episode arc scheduled for broadcast this spring.

In the action-comedy, Chase will play Ted Roark who is the founder and great mind behind Roark Instruments. Chuck (Zachary Levi) has looked up to Roark since he was a kid, and working at Roark Instruments is his dream. But perhaps there's more to this company than just super cool computers, turtlenecks -- and uberpositive employees.

One of the most honored and beloved actors of his generation, Chase first came to national prominence as a writer and performer with the original cast of NBC's "Saturday Night Live," for which he won two Emmys. Soon after endearing himself to television audiences, Hollywood beckoned and Chase made his feature-film debut in the comedy-thriller "Foul Play" with Goldie Hawn. His many memorable films include: "Caddyshack;" "Seems Like Old Times;" "National Lampoon's Vacation;" "Fletch;" "National Lampoon's European Vacation;" "Spies Like Us;" "The Three Amigos;" "Funny Farm;" Caddyshack II;" "Fletch Lives;" "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation;" "Memoirs of an Invisible Man;" "Cops and Robbersons;" "Man of the House;" "Vegas Vacation;" "Snow Day"; "Ellie Parker" with Naomi Watts -- and last year's "Funny Money."

In 1992, Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the nation's oldest undergraduate dramatic group, honored Chase as its "Man of the Year."

Chase began his career in comedy as a writer and performer for Channel One, a local New York underground revue that satirized television. Channel One later became the basis for the film "The Groove Tube." He has written for Lily Tomlin and the Smothers Brothers, and earned a Writers Guild of America Award for writing "Alan King's Energy Crisis, Rising Prices and Assorted Vices" TV special. In addition, he won an Emmy Award for co-writing "The Paul Simon Special."

In 2007, Chase received critical acclaim for his guest-starring role on NBC's award-winning series "Law & Order." He followed that return to the small screen with a two-episode guest-appearance on the series "Brothers and Sisters."

Chase recently completed production on the feature film "Stay Cool" with Winona Ryder and Sean Astin, which is scheduled for release this year.

Idris Elba is set star in a multi-episode arc on NBC's "The Office"

Universal City, Ca., January 15, 2009.          Screen Actors Guild nominee Idris Elba ("American Gangster," "Rocknrolla," "Obsessed") is set star in a multi-episode story arc on NBC's Emmy Award-winning hit comedy "The Office."

Elba will play the new no-nonsense hire at Dunder Mifflin's corporate office that will throw Michael Scott (Steve Carell) into turmoil.

Named one of People magazine's "100 Most Beautiful People," Elba may be best known as the calculating de facto leader of a Baltimore drug empire in the critically acclaimed original series "The Wire," but the British import is quickly making his mark as an actor to watch in Hollywood.

Elba most recently starred in the feature-film crime thriller "Rocknrolla" for director Guy Ritchie and Ridley Scott's "American Gangster" with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. He can next be seen in "Obsessed," due out on April 24, and in Jada Pinkett Smith's directorial debut, "The Human Contract." He also just wrapped production on "Bone Deep" opposite Hayden Christensen and Matt Dillon.

Elba starred in the critically acclaimed original film "Sometimes in April" by critically acclaimed director Rauol Peck. He also could be seen in the films "The Gospel," for director Rob Hardy; Tyler Perry's dramatic feature "Daddy's Little Girls;" opposite Hillary Swank in the thriller "The Reaping;" the horror-thriller "28 Weeks Later;" the holiday comedy "This Christmas;" and "Prom Night" a re-make of the 1980 horror classic.

At 19, Elba landed the lead part in a play performed at London's Red Lion Public Theater, gaining rave reviews for his performance. By the age of 24, Elba was a mainstay on British television; starring in some of the BBC's top-rated shows "Dangerfield," "Bramwell" and "Ultraviolet." His work in European film found him opposite the legendary Catherine Deneuve in "Belle Maman." In spite of the steady success that Elba was having, he began to feel constricted by the breadth of roles that he was getting in the United Kingdom, and felt that there were more abundant opportunities to explore in America.

In 2000 "Ultra Violet," was purchased and adapted for the United States. Although the pilot was not put on the fall calendar, it offered Elba the big break into the American marketplace that he was looking for. Shortly thereafter he landed a part on Dick Wolf's acclaimed NBC television series "Law & Order."

About "In the Motherhood"

Megan Mullally ("Will & Grace") and Cheryl Hines ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") come to ABC in the new comedy "In the Motherhood," which takes a look at the importance of family and friends while trying to juggle motherhood, work and love lives in an overly complicated modern world.

The story focuses on Rosemary (Mullally), Jane (Hines) and Emily (St. Clair), who represent mothers we all know. Rosemary is a free-wheeling mom who plays it fast and loose when it comes to parenting her teenaged son, Luke. Married numerous times, but currently single, Rosemary lives by her own rules. Much to the amazement of the other moms, her nontraditional parenting style has yielded a son much more responsible than she. Rosemary's best friend, Jane, is a recently divorced working mother of a pre-teen, Annie, and a baby girl, Sophie, who is just trying to keep her career and home afloat. Having just returned to work after giving birth eight months ago, Jane struggles to find a happy balance - lucky for her she has her "manny," Horatio (Horatio Sanz, "Saturday Night Live"), to help out. Jane's younger sister, Emily, sees herself as the model stay-at-home-super-mom for her two young children, Esther and Bill. Emily's home is a work of art, and her kids are polite and sweet-everything has its place in her world. Married to Jason (RonReaco Lee), Emily takes parenting as seriously as any mother could.

"We are excited to continue our productive creative relationship with John Wells and his team on this promising new project," said Bromstad. "We think 'Southland' is a gripping, well-executed drama with strong commercial appeal. And we're also making schedule changes that will strengthen the premieres of our new series 'Kings' and 'The Chopping Block.'"

From Emmy Award winners John Wells, Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack comes a raw and authentic look at the police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, "Southland" is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Michael Cudlitz ("A River Runs Through It") plays John Cooper a seasoned Los Angeles cop assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman (Benjamin McKenzie, "The O.C."). Cooper's honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer.

Cudlitz and McKenzie are joined by other cast members including Regina King ("Ray," "Jerry Maguire") who plays Detective Lydia Adams. Adams lives with and is the primary caregiver of her mother. Her partner, Detective Russell Clarke (Tom Everett Scott, "Boiler Room") is an unhappily married father of three. Michael McGrady ("The Thin Red Line") plays Detective Daniel "Sal" Salinger. Sal oversees fellow gang detectives Nate Moretta (Kevin Alejandro, "Drive," "Ugly Betty") and Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy, "Alpha Dog"). Arija Bareikis ("Crossing Jordan") plays as patrol officer Chickie Brown, a single mom who dreams of being the first woman accepted into SWAT.

"Southland" is a John Wells Production in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wells, Chulack and Biderman serve as executive producers. Biderman is the creator and Chulack will also serve as director of the series.

"The Untitled Daniels/Schur/Poehler Series" (working title) -- from Emmy Award-winning executive producers Greg Daniels (NBC's "The Office," "King of the Hill") and Michael Schur ("The Office, "Saturday Night Live") -- is a new mockumentary that looks at the exciting world of local government. The documentary cameras follow Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler, NBC's "Saturday Night Live," "Baby Mama"), a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana. In an attempt to beautify her town -- and advance her career -- Leslie takes on what should be a fairly simple project: help local nurse Ann Logan (Rashida Jones, "The Office") take on defensive bureaucrats, selfish neighbors, real estate developers, and single-issue fanatics -- whose weapons are lawsuits, the jumble of city codes, and the very democratic process that Leslie loves so much. Aziz Ansari and Aubrey Plaza also star.

"The Untitled Daniels/Schur/Poehler Series" is a production of Deedle-Dee Productions and Universal Media Studios. Along with Daniels and Schur, Howard Klein also serves as executive producer for the series.

"The Chopping Block" will feature celebrated chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White (UK's "Hell's Kitchen") in a new original cooking competition series in which the British Michelin star chef gives neophyte hopeful chefs/restaurateurs working in couples the opportunity to compete in America's greatest restaurant challenge. The series will expose the unseen pitfalls and behind-the-scenes madness that goes into opening a restaurant in the most competitive city in the world -- with the help of a grand prize of $250,000. The series is produced by Granada America. The executive producers are David Barbour and Julian Cress.

"Kings" is a riveting new drama from executive producer Michael Green (NBC's "Heroes") about a modern-day monarchy. The series is an epic story of greed and power, war and romance, forbidden loves and secret alliances -- and a young hero who rises to power in a modern-day kingdom. "Kings" stars Ian McShane (Golden Globe-winner, "Deadwood"), Chris Egan, Sebastian Stan, Susanna Thompson, Allison Miller, Wes Studi, Eamonn Walker and Dylan Baker.

"Kings" is produced by Universal Media Studios and is executive-produced by Green, Erwin Stoff ("I Am Legend") and Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend"), who also directed the two-hour premiere.

CONAN O'BRIEN SIGNS OFF OF 'LATE NIGHT' FEBRUARY 20, 2009 AND JIMMY FALLON TAKES OVER MARCH 2, 2009

Universal City, Ca., January 15th, 2009.          Conan O'Brien, the dominant late-night host at 12:35 a.m. (ET) for the past 15 seasons, will sign off as host of "Late Night" on February 20, 2009 and beginning March 2, 2009, "SNL" alum Jimmy Fallon will take over the reins as "Late Night" host.

In addition, Fallon's nightly video blogs will continue at www.nbc.com/jimmyfallon as he ramps up for his March broadcast debut.

As previously announced, O'Brien will be taking over "The Tonight Show" hosting duties on June 1, 2009 and Jay Leno's last "Tonight Show" telecast will air Friday, May 29, 2009.

Fallon is the third host of "Late Night" which has dominated the 12:35 a.m. timeslot since its inception in 1982 with then-host David Letterman. Fallon's "Late Night" will depart from Letterman and O'Brien's Studio 6A and cross the hall to Studio 6B in NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters in New York.

Studio 6B has a long history of comedy within its walls. 6B was the New York home of the first ten years of Johnny Carson's unprecedented "Tonight Show" tenure as well as for his predecessor Jack Paar, who made television history, in 6B, by quitting his own show, on the air, after NBC censored a joke the night before. In its days as a studio for NBC Radio, it hosted such comedy legends as Bob Hope and Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis. It housed the first late night show in television history "Broadway Open House" in 1950 as well as the legendary "Texaco Star Theater" starring Milton Berle. In addition, it was from Studio 6B that the infamous game show "Twenty One" (the basis of the film "Quiz Show") originated, as well as where the legendary Ernie Kovacs created innovative comedy on his groundbreaking daytime show.

QUOTABLES FROM 'SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE'S' 'WEEKEND UPDATE WITH SETH MEYERS' JANUARY 17, 2009

"WEEKEND UPDATE" ANCHOR SETH MEYERS - "On Thursday, New York water taxis accomplished in a half hour what the creators of Lost haven't been able to do in 5 seasons. Be honest, passengers if you knew everyone called the pilot "Sully" you never would have gotten on the plane in the first place."

MEYERS - "One of the passengers on the US Airways flight that crashed in the Hudson River was a singer-songwriter who came to New York in search of creative inspiration. So be on the lookout for her new song entitled, 'Aieee!!!'"

MEYERS - "Matzo Aviv, Israel's leading matzo manufacturer, is suing a Brooklyn matzo maker for illegally using their trademark. No one knows what the outcome of the case will be but one thing is indisputable: both sides will have good lawyers."

MEYERS - "A Chinese newspaper reported that a 107-year-old woman who was afraid to marry when she was young has decided to look for her first husband. Though I think she's using an old picture on Match.com."

MEYERS - "California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday brought the sword he used in "Conan the Barbarian" to a meeting and joked that he would use it to cut the state budget deficit. Then came the inevitable awkward moment when he had to hand the sword to an aide, sit at a table with men half his size, and try to do math in his second language."

MEYERS - "A 13 year old girl in California recently sent 14,528 text messages in one month. In her defense, though, Jen WAS being a total bitch."

MEYERS - "Botanists and forestry experts say that an acorn shortage across the U.S. has been severely affecting squirrels. "We need to bring the squirrels more acorns," said one scientist, who in no way looked like a bunch of squirrels standing on each others' shoulders in a lab coat."

MEYERS - "An appeals court in Washington State ruled Tuesday that teachers can have consensual sex with 18 year-old students. "Hooray!" said one teacher a little too loudly, who then pretended he was just reading sports scores."

MEYERS - "A 13 year old girl in Australia fought off a 16 foot great white shark before escaping with only a wound to her leg. She will recover completely, but with a diminished capacity to sit through other people's anecdotes."

MEYERS - "According to a new federal report, obese American adults now outnumber those who are merely overweight. More bad news for the nation's already overworked
pleats."
