Waltrip and Hammond Get The First Ever Emmy Award Nominations For FOX NASCAR Coverage

(April 3rd, 2008 - Editor)          FOX Sports is celebrating Emmy Award nominations for two of their broadcast team. During their legendary on-track careers, driver Darrell Waltrip and crew chief Jeff Hammond saw Victory Lane 43 times as a team. Both men were recently honored with their first-ever Emmy Award nominations, Waltrip for "Outstanding Event Analyst" and Hammond for "Outstanding Studio Analyst". Even more impressive is that available research suggests that they are the first NASCAR-related TV personalities to ever receive an Emmy nomination.

"On a race team, the driver gets all the glory, but he knows it’s really about the people behind him who are helping him and pushing him," said Waltrip. "I am blessed to be with the greatest team in racing covering our sport."

"I've been fortunate to be side-by-side with Darrell Waltrip when we have won races and championships together," said Hammond. "Receiving our first nomination together is one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me!"

NASCAR on FOX, already the recipient of nine Emmy Awards for its coverage from 2001 to 2005, also received 2006 nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for "Outstanding Live Event/Audio," and "Outstanding Technical Team Remote," an award the series has taken home for three consecutive years.

The 28th Annual Sports Emmy Awards will be presented on Monday, April 30, in New York.

Hal Holbrook Makes A Guest Appearance On E.R. April 24th.

(April 3rd, 2008 - Editor)          Multi-Emmy Award-winning actor and recent Academy Award nominee Hal Holbrook makes a special guest appearance on NBC's "ER" (10-11 p.m. ET) as Walter Perkins, a terminal cancer patient who impacts the life of Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic). The episode, "Truth Will Out," will air Thursday, April 24 (10-11 p.m. ET).

During a visit to a hospice ward, Dr. Kovac crosses paths with Walter, who despite his terminal illness, remains upbeat, offbeat and funny -- while continuing to outlive every other patient that comes through the doors of the facility. His presence impacts Luka and affects a major decision in his life.

Executive Producer David Zabel said, "The show has had an amazing array of incredible actors who have walked through the doors over the years and Hal Holbrook certainly continues that tradition. He is perfect for this role and we couldn't be more pleased to have him."

A Tony Award recipient and five-time Emmy winner, Holbrook is one of the great craftsmen of stage and screen. He is best known for his performance as Mark Twain, a role for which he won numerous accolades for "Mark Twain Tonight!" He has appeared in more than 50 television movies and mini-series including "Pueblo," "Our Town," "Sandburg's Lincoln" and "Outer Limits." He also starred in the landmark television movie "That Certain Summer." Holbrook has guest-starred on such television series as NBC's "The West Wing," "NCIS," and "The Sopranos."

On the big screen, his career began with "The Group" in 1966 and since then, he has appeared in over 40 films. These include "Magnum Force," "Midway," "All the President's Men," "Wall Street," "The Firm" and "Men of Honor." Earlier this year, Holbrook became the oldest male performer ever nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in "Into the Wild."

Currently recognized as the most Emmy-nominated show in television history, "ER" is currently in its 14th season and is produced by Constant c Productions and Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Quotables From "The Chris Matthews Show" Published March 28, 2008.

TOM BROKAW, NBC NEWS:
"My very strong hunch is that if Senator Clinton's negatives remain as high as they have been, and growing, it's going to put additional strain on her fundraising capacity, and that could be what breaks the back of the campaign at some point."

CYNTHIA TUCKER, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION:
"The investigation into alleged corruption at the Bush Justice Department has gotten new life. Former Alabama governor Don Siegelman, a Democrat, has been released from prison on bond. He'll testify before the House Judiciary Committee. He was convicted on bribery charges in 2006, but his supporters have always claimed he was targeted by Karl Rove in a political vendetta, so we'll see."

EUGENE ROBINSON, WASHINGTON POST:
"The United States is worried that it's going to lose the ability to act in Pakistan against Al Qaeda because of Musharraf's recent political problems. So you're going to see stepped-up U.S. activity, especially with drones, in Pakistan and it could be a real flashpoint in the next few weeks."

ANDREA MITCHELL, NBC NEWS:
"If asked, I think that Mike Bloomberg would very seriously consider running as vice president if Barack Obama were the nominee. And he would be able to reassure very nervous Jewish voters, Jewish Democrats, about Obama."

CBS Sports Spectacular To Broadcast Two Golf Specials On Saturday, April 12th

(April 3rd, 2008 - Editor)          CBS Sports will broadcast two golf specials, "Mercedes-Benz Presents Links To Legends" and "Eighties At Augusta", on Saturday, April 12th, (1:30-2:30 PM, ET) and (2:30-3:30 PM, ET), respectively, on CBS.

"Mercedes-Benz Presents Links To Legends" features some of the greatest players in golf with personal interviews highlighting their inspirations and mentors, as well as  past and present heroes of the game. Interviews include Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Phil Mickelson, Nick Price, Greg Norman, Peter Jacobson, and many more.

It was a time of triumph and tragedy at the Masters. "Eighties At Augusta" will chronicle and dissect one of the richest decades in Masters history. Hall of Fame golfers Seve Ballesteros, Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw, Bernhard Langer and Nick Faldo were fortunate enough to win coveted Green Jackets while opponents Curtis Strange, Greg Norman and Scott Hoch were left to ponder "what if?" The 1980s at Augusta not only provided the game with legendary players and moments, but perhaps one of the most memorable and greatest events in sports history. Jack Nicklaus' 1986 victory at Augusta has become known as one of the best Masters in history but is also a remarkable feat in sports history. In 1987, Larry Mize's chip-in is also an unforgettable moment and one of the most dramatic strokes ever to grace the Masters. Narrated by CBS Sports golf anchor Jim Nantz, "Eighties At Augusta" includes a rare interview with Ballesteros, 1980 and 1983 Masters champion, as well as interviews with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Watson, Crenshaw, Langer, Faldo, Mize, Strange, Norman, Sandy Lyle, Craig Stadler, Dan Pohl, CBS Sports' Nick Faldo, three-time Masters champion, and CBS Sports' David Feherty.
