House (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) "No More Mr. Nice Guy" House thinks an emergency room patient has a bigger problem than the E.R. initially diagnosed based on the fact that the patient is too nice.  Meanwhile, House and Amber (guest star Anne Dudek) are at odds vying for Wilson’s (Robert Sean Leonard) time and attention in an all-new episode.

Monday, May 5

Bones (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) "The Verdict in the Story" Ryan O’Neal returns as Max Keenan, Brennan’s father, in an all-new episode.  Max goes on trial for the alleged murder of FBI Deputy Director Robert Kirby, and the Jeffersonian team members, minus Brennan, are called as expert witnesses for the prosecution, keenly aware that their testimony could put Max on Death Row.  Brennan, serving as a forensics advisor for the defense, must rely not only on her expertise as an anthropologist but also on her dedication to her family to find a way to exonerate her father.

House (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) "Living the Dream" In an all-new episode, House is convinced that one of the actors (guest star Jason Lewis) on his favorite soap opera, "Prescription Passion", has a serious medical condition, but has to take matters into his own hands when both the actor and House's own team dismiss his assessment, believing that nothing is wrong with the soap hunk.

During the investigation, a shocking event may change the Jeffersonian team forever.

House (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) "House’s Head"/Season Finale, Part 1 In Part 1 of the two-part season finale, House is in a bus accident and loses four hours of his memory.  He slowly pieces together that a fellow bus passenger was exhibiting signs of a deadly illness.  But the details of who it is or how House got on the bus in the first place are locked inside his brain, and he’s desperate to add up the fleeting flashes in order to save someone who might not even know he or she could be dying.

Monday, May 19

Bones (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) "The Pain in the Heart"/Season Finale When a human jawbone shows up at the Jeffersonian, Brennan and the team quickly realize that the Gormogon serial killer has struck again. In a shocking turn of events, an explosion in the lab sends Zack (Eric Millegan) to the hospital; Gormogon’s silver skeleton goes missing from the basement vault; and every Jeffersonian employee becomes a suspect, with the very real possibility that one of their very own may be working with the twisted and elusive serial killer.

House (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) "Wilson’s Heart"/Season Finale, Part 2 In Part 2 of the two-part season finale, clues inside House's head hold the key to a patient's condition, and House's friendship with Wilson is tested beyond limits as murky memories from the bus accident the night before threaten to change their lives forever.

Contestants team up with some of the hottest stars, from Rosie O'Donnell, Betty White, Rachael Ray and Neil Patrick Harris to "High School Musical's" Monique Coleman, to earn up to one million dollars. One player from the team is told secret passwords and can use only one-word clues to get the teammate to guess them. If the player and the celebrity can work well together and become a solid team, that player could uncover the Million Dollar Password.

Jingles (working title), premiering Sunday, July 27 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) from executive producer Mark Burnett, is a weekly competition which challenges contestants to write and perform a jingle about anything from products to sports teams each week.   The products will be anything from a food or toy, to a health or beauty aid, or a team fight song, TV show theme or update to a classic jingle. To survive each competition, they will have to impress not only a panel of judges and a live audience, but also the American public, who will ultimately decide the winner.

Flashpoint, an emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the SRU (inspired by Toronto's Emergency Task Force), premieres Friday, July 11 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).  It's a unit that rescues hostages, busts gangs, defuses bombs, climbs the sides of buildings and talks down suicidal teens.  As they race against the clock to determine what brought these people to their respective breaking points, members of this highly skilled team use their training in negotiating, profiling and getting inside the suspect's head to diffuse the situation to try to save lives.

NBC SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL' SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

(April 17th, 2008.  -  Editor)          The defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants, marquee teams, storied rivalries and the NFL's most dynamic players highlight the "NBC Sunday Night Football" schedule as the league today announced its 2008 slate of games. NBC will open the season on Thursday, Sept. 4 with the Giants hosting their NFC East rival the Washington Redskins and end the season on Feb. 1 with Super Bowl XLIII from Tampa Bay, the network's first since 1998.

Highlights of NBC's Football schedule:

· Fourteen of NBC's 16 scheduled games involve at least one playoff team from last season; 11 of 16 include two playoff teams; four of the 16 games are playoff rematches from last season. Three appearances from the Super Bowl champion Giants (Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys).

· A rematch of last year's highest rated NFL regular season game between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, which earned a 20.1. The Colts will also meet the Bears and Chargers on Sunday Night Football.

· Three appearances from the Super Bowl champion Giants (Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys).

· Six games involving the Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli, winners and MVPs of the last two Super Bowls. Eli and the Giants will open NBC's schedule on Thursday, Sept. 4, while Peyton and the Colts will play in the first Sunday Night Football contest on Sept. 7.

· Three appearances by the Patriots including a rematch against LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers, the team they eliminated the last two years in the playoffs. They also will play the Colts and Seahawks.

· Three games involving the Cowboys all against conference rivals (Packers, Redskins, Giants).

· A meeting between two of the NFL's most historic franchises as the Cowboys visit the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field.

· Four matchups among bitter NFC East rivals (Redskins-Giants; Giants-Eagles; Giants-Cowboys; Cowboys-Redskins).

· A rematch of last year's memorable playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

· The first "NBC Sunday Night Football" visit to Cleveland as the Browns host their archrival the Steelers.

"Looking at this schedule and all of the great stories that will unfold, I can't wait for the start of the season, and to build on the success of the last two years," said Dick Ebersol, Chairman, NBC Universal Sports & Olympics. "In the first two seasons of 'NBC Sunday Night Football,' we created a new destination to reach viewers and changed what was 36 years of traditional viewing habits on Sunday and Monday nights. The NFL remains one of the most valuable properties in all of television. "

As evidence of the continuing shift in consumer behavior, last season "Sunday Night Football won 11 Sunday nights, up from nine in 2006. In just two years, there is now a five million viewer difference, 43 percent, between Sunday and Monday nights. Sunday Night Football was the No. 5 rated primetime show last year.

*7 p.m. ET start due to Republican National Convention

THURSDAY, SEPT. 4 - NFL KICKOFF 2008
Washington Redskins at New York Giants (Giants Stadium, E. Rutherford, N.J.)
Eli Manning and the Super Bowl champion Giants host their fierce division rival the Redskins in the debut for first year head coach Jim Zorn. Manning led the Giants to a 17-14 victory over the previously undefeated Patriots and was named Super Bowl XLII MVP.

Madden: "I like the idea of having the first game of the season opening up on a Thursday as a stand alone game. Now we have a real opening weekend with the World Champion New York Giants coming back home after the Super Bowl to start the season. That's pretty darn exciting."

Collinsworth: "I still think the most interesting rivalries in football are in the NFC East. What a baptism by fire for Jim Zorn. Giants Stadium will be rocking."

SUNDAY, SEPT. 7- WEEK ONE
Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts (Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.)
The Sunday Night Football schedule kicks off with a rematch from Super Bowl XLI as Peyton Manning and the Colts make their debut in their new stadium. Manning was the MVP of the Super Bowl versus the Bears.

Madden: "The Bears are always good on defense playing against the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. This game was the Super Bowl just two years ago."

Collinsworth: "The Bears can apply the type of pressure that can really bother Peyton Manning."

SUNDAY, SEPT. 14 - WEEK TWO
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio)
The Cleveland Browns make only their second appearance on the league's premier primetime package in the last 13 years (2003 was last time since 1995) when they take on AFC North rival Steelers. Both teams finished with 10-6 records last season with the Steelers edging out the Browns for the division title by beating them twice.

Madden: "The Steelers have a tough schedule this year, maybe the toughest schedule. The Browns have a very good offense and this is the year they can make that playoff move."

Collinsworth: "A lot of people are picking Cleveland as the team to beat in the AFC North. They got better in the offseason and look like one of the up and coming franchises in the NFL. Having played in the division with these two teams, I know how intense Pittsburgh-Cleveland is."

SUNDAY, SEPT. 21 - WEEK THREE
Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers (Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wis.)
In what should be a fan favorite, two of the NFL's most popular and historic franchises clash with Aaron Rodgers taking over at quarterback for the retired Brett Favre. He'll face Tony Romo, coming off his second straight Pro Bowl appearance. The teams had identical 13-3 marks last season. In Week 13, the Cowboys defeated the Packers 37-27.

Madden: "Dallas-Green Bay. That's just football. What is Green Bay going to be without Brett Favre? Aaron Rodgers was a first round draft choice and now the world is going to find out about him."

Collinsworth: "When Rodgers came in against the Cowboys last year he gave them a big lift. Stylistically he may be a better fit for this offense than Brett Favre. The Packers have one of the most impressive young rosters in the league."

SUNDAY, SEPT. 28 - WEEK FOUR
Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears (Soldier Field, Chicago, Ill.)
After missing the playoffs last season, both of these traditional NFC powerhouses look to establish themselves early in the season.

Madden: "I think the Eagles are going to be back and be a playoff team this year. Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago: This just sounds like a hitting game."

Collinsworth: "Even though Philly has not won a Super Bowl, year in and year out they are one of the most consistently good teams. This is an important year for Donovan McNabb."

SUNDAY OCT. 5 - WEEK FIVE
Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars (Alltel Stadium, Jacksonville, Fla.)
David Garrard leads the Jags against Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers in a rematch of last year's Wild Card game in which the Jags squandered an 18-point fourth quarter lead but kicked a late field goal to survive with a 31-29 victory.

Madden: "Another hitting game. Jacksonville came into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers with David Garrard making a big fourth down run. The Steelers still have that taste in their mouth."

Collinsworth: "The Jaguars are one of my favorite teams to watch play. They have two tremendous backs and I'm a big fan of David Garrard."

SUNDAY, OCT. 12 - WEEK SIX
New England Patriots at San Diego Chargers (Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, Calif.)
The Patriots, led by QB Tom Brady, became the first NFL team to finish the regular season undefeated since the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The Patriots have eliminated the Chargers the last two years in the playoffs, including 21-12 in last year's AFC Championship Game, so San Diego will be thirsting for revenge. Last season, Tom Brady set the NFL single season record by throwing 50 touchdown passes, while his favorite target Randy Moss set the record by a receiver with 23.

Madden: "The Chargers thought they should have gotten the Patriots last year."

Collinsworth: "These are maybe the best two teams in football. You can't deny what the Patriots did last year and if not for their injuries, the Chargers may very well have been world champions."

SUNDAY, OCT. 19 - WEEK SEVEN
Seattle Seahawks at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Fla.)
The NFL's premier primetime package returns to Tampa for the fist time since 2003 when the NFC South Division champs host Matt Hasselbeck and the four-time defending NFC West Division champion Seahawks.

Collinsworth: "Mike Holmgren is looking for that grand farewell. Seattle's defense is as fast and talented as any."

SUNDAY, OCT. 28 – WEEK EIGHT
NO GAME (Note: World Series Game 5)

SUNDAY, NOV. 2 - WEEK NINE
New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts (Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind.)
In one of the NFL's most anticipated games every year, two future Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks square off as Tom Brady and the Patriots travel to Indianapolis to take on Peyton Manning and the Colts. The Pats defeated the Colts 24-20 in Week 9 last season in the highest rated game of the regular season, earning a 20.1.

Madden: "In the last five years, this has been the top game of the year. You are talking about the two top quarterbacks in football, two great coaches and two good organizations. This is just 'The Game.'"

Collinsworth: "Each year this is the most anticipated game on the NFL schedule and as long as Brady and Manning are around, always will be."

SUNDAY, NOV. 9 - WEEK 10
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles (Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pa.)
Two bitter NFC East rivals meet in the always hostile environment in Philly. Last season the Giants defeated the Eagles twice, including jump-starting their season by sacking Eagles QB Donovan McNabb 12 times in a September victory.

Madden: "The NFC East is always fun. Old-time football."

Collinsworth: "Of all the rivalries in the NFC East, this is the most intense. It feels like Yankees-Red Sox."

SUNDAY, NOV. 16 - WEEK 11
Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins (FedEx Field, Landover, Md.)
Sports Illustrated has called it the top rivalry in the NFL and "one of the greatest in sports." Last season the teams split their two games, each winning on their home field.

Madden: "Back-to-back NFC East rivalry games. Big games in the regular season, those to me are always the best."

Collinsworth: "The Cowboys are a team that has a lot going for it and will play with a chip on their shoulder because of last year's disappointment."

SUNDAY, NOV. 23 - WEEK 12
Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers (Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, Calif.)
Another AFC playoff rematch pits two of the league's marquee stars, LaDanian Tomlinson and Peyton Manning, on two of the NFL's most powerful offenses. The Chargers beat the Colts twice last season – 23-21 in Week 10 of the regular season and then 28-24 in the AFC Divisional playoffs.

Madden: "Is San Diego going to step up to be in the mix with New England and Indianapolis?"

Collinsworth: "If there's one team that has Manning's number it's San Diego. They're sort of his achilles heel."

SUNDAY, NOV. 30 - WEEK 13
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings (Metrodome, Minneapolis, Minn.)
Another division rivalry game as dynamic second-year running back Adrian Peterson squares off against Bears stalwart LB Brian Urlacher. Last season in just his eighth game as a pro, Peterson set the NFL's single game rushing record with 296 against the Chargers.

Madden: "Adrian Peterson after one year is one of the top backs in football. If they can get some passing to go with his running he is going to have a bigger year this year than he did last year."

Collinsworth: "Peterson is one of the great talents in the game and the most exciting player to watch."

SUNDAY, DEC. 7 - WEEK 14
New England Patriots at Seattle Seahawks (Qwest Field, Seattle, Wash.)
The always raucous 12th man in Seattle will make things challenging for Brady and the Patriots. This game is expected to have major playoff implications for both teams.

Madden: "Mike Holmgren, one of the top coaches in football is in his last season. He has one more year in Seattle and he thinks it's going to be a pretty good one."
Collinsworth: "These are two of the best teams in the NFL over the past five or six seasons. They have contrasting styles which makes for a better football game. Matt Hasselbeck is on the cusp of being an elite quarterback and a win over Tom Brady would go a long way."

SUNDAY, DEC. 14 - WEEK 15
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (Texas Stadium, Irving, Texas)
Another bitter NFC East game as Tony Romo and the Cowboys seek to avenge last season's playoff loss to the Giants.

Madden: "Giants at Dallas, that sounds like a championship game. Two great young quarterbacks, Eli Manning and Tony Romo. It has all those things that sound awfully good."

Collinsworth: "It's hard to imagine this rivalry getting even more intense but after last year, it is. There is no one in Dallas who believed the Giants were going to walk into Dallas and beat the Cowboys last year."

SUNDAY, DEC. 21 - WEEK 16
San Diego Chargers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Fla.)
A matchup between two of last season's division winners. Rivers will face one of the NFL's best secondaries led by Ronde Barber.

Collinsworth: "Two teams with top-notch defenses but I don't know another team in the league that has as much talent on both sides of the ball as the Chargers."

SUNDAY, DEC. 28 - WEEK 17
Teams to be announced by NFL at least six days prior.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING:
The season again will utilize "flexible scheduling," in Weeks 11-17.

In Weeks 11-16, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for "NBC Sunday Night Football." Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday Night Football, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights.

A flexible scheduling move will be announced at least 12 days before the game. For Week 17, the change will be announced no later than six days before the game. The schedule does not list a Sunday night game in Week 17, but an afternoon game with playoff implications will be moved to that time slot to conclude the season.

Flexible scheduling will ensure quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and give "surprise" teams a chance to play their way onto primetime.

DONNY & MARIE OSMOND WILL CROWN AMERICA'S FAVORITE MOM

(April 17th, 2008.  -  Editor)           NBC and Teleflora have announced that America's favorite celebrity siblings, Donny and Marie Osmond, will host the "Teleflora Presents America's Favorite Mom" Mother's Day special on May 11, 2008 at 7 p.m. EST. During the broadcast, the Osmonds will crown one lucky winner "America's Favorite Mom" based on the results of Americans voting online the week of May 5-9, 2008.
"Donny and I grew up in a large family under the tender care of an exceptional mother," said Marie Osmond, mother of eight children herself. "She was the perfect 'stage mother.' She was there for us every stage of our lives. On this-year anniversary of Mother's Day, we want to recognize and applaud the women who create the future for every community through their dedication to raising children."
"Mothers are the cornerstone to every family," added Donny Osmond. "They give so much of themselves everyday and Marie and I are excited to play a part in honoring America's real treasures."
Donny and Marie Osmond are best known for their 1970s legendary brother-sister singing sensation act and television variety show, "The Donny & Marie Show." The two reconnected in 1998, when they won the hearts of fans by co-hosting the "Donny & Marie" talk show. Most recently, Marie danced her way back into America's heart during last season's "Dancing with the Stars" and Donny is currently appearing on the big screen in the Disney comedy, "College Road Trip." The pair will also be hitting the road this summer in their first world-wide musical tour in 25 years.
Thousands of moms have already been nominated online at www.AmericasFavoriteMom.com, representing amazing examples of dedicated and caring moms from all walks of life. Nominations are being accepted in the categories of single moms, working moms, stay-at-home moms, unconventional moms and military moms through April 25, 2008, when a panel of experts will narrow the pool to the top three semi-finalists in each category. Fifteen semi-finalists will appear on NBC's award-winning "Today" show the week before Mother's Day. Each day, viewers will be able to cast their vote online for their favorite mom.
Five finalists will be vying for the title of "America's Favorite Mom" on Mother's Day at 7 p.m. EST. The winning mom will be crowned in front of an audience by Donny and Marie Osmond and take home thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, including an 18k gold heart-shaped "America's Favorite Mom" pendant trimmed with dazzling diamonds.

FAN FAVORITE ANDREA EVANS RETURNS TO ABC'S "ONE LIFE TO LIVE" IN JUNE

(April 17th, 2008.  -  Editor)          As "One Life to Live" prepares to celebrate its 40th Anniversary on ABC, Andrea Evans returns to play one of daytime television's most beloved bad girls, Tina Lord Roberts, in June. Ms. Evans originated the role in 1978 and played the popular character until 1990, receiving an Emmy Award nomination for her wonderfully devious portrayal. Tina's return to Llanview means the kind of trouble only she can create, and will open the door for another fan favorite to return.
"Even though Andrea has not appeared on 'OLTL' since 1990, she has remained among the most requested characters to return to the show," said executive producer Frank Valentini. "I welcome her home to 'OLTL' and to the role where she made an indelible mark on our audience."
"For many years, both fans of mine and of 'One Life to Live' have wanted me to return to the show, said Ms. Evans. "Now that the timing is right, I'm thrilled to be returning to the role of Tina, which I've always held near and dear to my heart, and I'm looking forward to working once again with all my friends and 'family' at 'One Live to Live.'"
Tina has endured a life-altering experience and will have a mysterious connection to one of Llanview's most powerful citizens. Upon her return, she will first cross paths with her sister, Viki Davidson (Erika Slezak), and her brother, Todd (Trevor St. John). Her appearance in town will spark a major story that will take place throughout the summer.
Ms. Evans is one of the genre's most dynamic performers and, in addition to "One Life to Live, has appeared on "The Young and the Restless," "The Bold and the Beautiful" and most recently "Passions." Besides her daytime roles, she has an impressive list of credits spanning film, primetime, radio and theatre. In addition to her acting career, she dedicates her time to such charitable organizations as The City of Hope and numerous animal rights groups. Ms. Evans continues to reside in CA with her husband, Steve, and young daughter Kylie Lyn.
Emmy Award-winning "One Life to Live," created by Agnes Nixon, was launched July 15, 1968. Frank Valentini executive-produces. Ron Carlivati is the headwriter. The popular drama consistently ranks among the top five in the key demographic of Women 18-49. "One Life to Live" airs Monday to Friday (2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

DETAILS OF CASTING CALLS FOR HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: SUMMER SESSION

(April 17th, 2008.  -  Editor)          ABC has announced the details of East and West Coast Open Casting calls for "High School Musical: Summer Session. West coast auditions will be held on Sunday, April 27 at Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. The East coast open casting call will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The exact location is the Champion Stadium at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. Both of these open auditions will form part of the early episodes of the series. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 22 is welcome to give it a shot at the open calls (if you are under 18, you must bring your parent or legal guardian) and can download an application and view eligibility requirements at www.abc.com/hsmsummersession.
The series debuts on the ABC Television Network on Sunday, July 20 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) and runs Sundays and Mondays (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) for three weeks, then continues Mondays at 8:00 p.m., ET through mid-September. The producers welcome anyone and everyone aged 16-22 who has dreamed of being center stage -- the high school quarterback who's never tried out for a play but has a song in his heart, the drama club extrovert looking to break into the big time, someone looking to trade the chess club routine for a dance routine -- all are invited to try to "Get'cha head in the game," as the hit song says. The finalists will ultimately participate in a summer music program to hone their skills, and one talented newcomer will receive the opportunity of a lifetime, becoming a part of the "High School Musical" family. The winner will receive a grand prize-details will be announced separately. Lots of fantastic surprises await someone with the talent to go to the head of the class!
In addition to the open calls in Long Beach and Orlando, the casting scouts from "High School Musical: Summer Session" are scouring the country looking for otherwise unknown talent who they think deserve a chance to try out for this new reality series. The casting scouts will select some of these individuals to be brought to the final auditions, before a panel of judges, which will be held as the final phases of the open calls. If you are selected to audition, bring your A-game for a chance to appear before our judges and show them why you deserve to join the "High School Musical" family.

CBS TO PRESENT "SURVIVOR" IN HIGH DEFINITION FOR THE FIRST TIME UTILIZING SONY'S XDCAM HD TECHNOLOGY

(April 17th, 2008.  -  Editor)            Sony and CBS have joined forces to bring the ground-breaking reality series "Survivor" to high definition. Sony XDCAM HDTM Professional DiscTM system will be used to shoot the upcoming 17th edition of CBS's Survivor in high definition, with production scheduled to begin this summer and the premiere episode debuting in the fall.

"Sony's XDCAM HD system will start a new era for Survivor," said Mark Burnett, executive producer. "The camcorder brings the exotic locales to life brilliantly, creating an immediacy that draws viewers right into the frame. This is something we'd been looking to do for some time, and now it has become a reality."

The XDCAM HD camcorders and decks to be deployed are a direct replacement for Sony Digital Betacam equipment used to craft the series' groundbreaking style since its premiere. The Sony XDCAM HD solution is immediately familiar to camera operators and line producers, but offers far more than an upgrade from SD to HD resolution. The optical-disc-based HD workflow introduces new innovation and efficiency that addresses the unique needs of reality TV's unscripted programming.

"Shooting in high definition gives our production team tools for storytelling beyond what was previously possible and will give our loyal audience an enhanced viewing experience," said Ghen Maynard, executive vice president, Alternative Programming & Entertainment Content for New Media, CBS Paramount Entertainment Group.  "SURVIVOR's locations and natural elements have always served as another character in the show and an important part of the competition.  With HD, viewers will feel as if they are on location instead of in their living room."

"CBS ELITEXC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS" DEBUTS MAY 31 ON CBS

(April 17th, 2008.  -  Editor)          CBS and EliteXC announced the lineup for the first "CBS ELITEXC Saturday Night Fights", to be broadcast live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Saturday, May 31 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

"In terms of recognition and perception, I believe May 31 is the biggest and single most important MMA fight card ever. It will forever change the landscape of the sport and how it is perceived," said Gary Shaw, EliteXC Live Events President.

The following five primetime matchups are confirmed for May 31.

  • Kimbo Slice vs. James "Colossus" Thompson (Heavyweights)
  • "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler vs. Scott "Hands of Steel" Smith (for EliteXC Middleweight title)
  • Gina "Conviction" Carano vs. Kaitlin Young (140 lb. weight class)
  • Phil Baroni vs. Murilo "Ninja" Rua (Middleweights)
  • Brett "The Grim" Rogers vs. Jon Murphy (Heavyweights)

KIMBO SLICE vs. JAMES "COLOSSUS" THOMPSON

Heavyweight sensation Kimbo Slice will headline the first-ever CBS ELITEXC SATURDAY NIGHT FIGHTS.  From the street to EliteXC, Slice's unorthodox ascension through the world of mixed martial arts started with posting his local fights on "YouTube," a move that quickly garnered millions of downloads and made him an instant legend among fans of the sport.  Kimbo, aka Kevin Ferguson, who resides in Perrine, Fla., near Miami, will be matched against James "Colossus" Thompson, a British MMA standout whose pre-fighting resume includes work as a "debt collector."  Thompson is aptly nicknamed, standing at six-foot-five and weighing more than 250 pounds.  He will be the first MMA fighter to possess a height advantage over the six-foot-two-inch Kimbo.  This bout is scheduled for three five-minute rounds.

"RUTHLESS" ROBBIE LAWLER vs. SCOTT "HANDS OF STEEL" SMITH

Champion "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler of St. Louis by way of Davenport, Iowa will put his title on the line against Scott "Hands of Steel" Smith in the evening's middleweight championship fight.  Lawler trains under the legendary Pat Miletich, while Smith trains in Reno, Nev.  Both fighters are widely considered two of the most prolific knockout artists in the business.  This championship bout is slated for five five-minute rounds.

GINA "CONVICTION" CARANO vs. KAITLIN YOUNG

In a female bout, Gina "Conviction" Carano will square off against Circle Pines, Minn. native Kaitlin Young.  Carano, an undefeated Muay Thai specialist, lives and trains in Las Vegas, Nev., and is considered one of the most popular female fighters in the world of mixed martial arts.  Carano recently appeared on the series "American Gladiators" where she put her skills to the test as the gladiator "Crush."  Young, a well-conditioned athlete who trains at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, started Olympic-style taekwondo when she was 14.  Her aggressive style and Muay Thai background should provide one of the most interesting matchups of the evening.  This bout is scheduled for three three-minute rounds.

PHIL BARONI vs. MURILO "NINJA" RUA

Outspoken, hard-hitting, MMA bad boy, Phil Baroni, will take on former EliteXC middleweight champ Murilo "Ninja" Rua, a specialist in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu- jitsu.  Baroni, a fighter known for always putting on a good show, hails from Long Island, N.Y., and is currently training in Las Vegas, Nev. and San Jose, Calif.  The talented Rua is currently training in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil.  This bout is scheduled for three five-minute rounds.

BRETT "THE GRIM" ROGERS vs. JON MURPHY

Brett "The Grim" Rogers brings an impressive undefeated record to the fight against fellow heavyweight contender Jon Murphy.  The explosive, hard-hitting Rogers, who hails from Minneapolis, Minn., is six-foot-five and weighs over 260 pounds.  Murphy, a former middle linebacker at Syracuse University who lives in Minersville, Penn, is six-foot-four and weighs over 240 pounds.  This bout is scheduled for three five-minute rounds.

The intense nature of the contests and the theatrical elements of its live events have made mixed martial arts one of the fastest growing spectator sports in the U.S.  Over the last several years, the genre has seen tremendous growth in popularity, especially among the coveted 18-34 demographic.

Mixed martial arts is a sport evolved from a number of ancient combat disciplines including judo, jiu-jitsu, karate, wrestling and kickboxing.  World-class athletes engage in hand-to-hand combat in a ring-both caged and traditional-and must adapt their fighting style to fit their opponent.  The wide variety of styles and techniques make every event an unpredictable spectacle.
