“GLEE: THE MUSIC, VOLUME 1” IN STORES NOVEMBER 3

New York, N.Y., August 31, 2009.               On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Columbia Records and Twentieth Century Fox Television will release “Glee: The Music, Volume 1,” the first in a series of soundtracks that feature some of the music heard in the first season of the critically acclaimed series premiering Wednesday, Sept. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. “Glee: The Music, Volume 1” will feature spectacular renditions of several chart-topping hits, including Queen’s “Somebody to Love” and Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” (See below for full track listing).

GLEE has been heralded for its high-spirited musical numbers, incredibly talented cast and infectiously witty writing. A special preview episode of GLEE aired in May on FOX and sparked a frenzy of praise from critics and fans alike. The cast’s incredible version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” immediately shot right to No. 1 on the iTunes charts.  To see your favorite performances and more from the preview, tune in to a special director’s cut of the pilot Wednesday, Sept. 2 (8:58-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Performances in the upcoming season premiere include “Gold Digger” (Kanye West), “Push It” (Salt-N-Pepa), “Take a Bow” (Rihanna), “I Say a Little Prayer” (Burt Bacharach), “Le Freak” (Chic) and “All By Myself” (Eric Carmen). After the season premiere debuted at Comic-Con 2009, the Los Angeles Times reported “…the reception was enthusiastic. That was especially true for two musical numbers, covers of Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’ and Salt-N-Pepa’s ‘Push It,’ which became a showstopper in the episode.” The Examiner went on to champion another performance from this screening saying Lea Michele “brought the curtain and the house down to deafening applause” with her version of Rihanna’s “Take a Bow.” Select tracks from each episode will be available for purchase on iTunes and other digital retailers on a weekly basis.

The press continues to talk about what an important part the music in GLEE plays in making it such an outstanding show. New York Newsday said “it’s the music that makes ‘GLEE’ a gleeful delight.” From The Police to Usher to Broadway, there’s something for everyone. The Washington Post highlighted the show’s diversity by saying “one of the show’s major pluses is that the music performed isn’t confined to the latest tuneless melodies.” And USA Today went on to thank FOX for introducing “a little song, a little dance and some much needed diversity.”

GLEE follows an optimistic teacher, WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison), who – against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach – attempts to save McKinley High’s Glee Club from obscurity, while helping a group of aspiring underdogs realize their true star potential. It’s a tall order when the brightest stars of the group include KURT (Chris Colfer), a soprano who hits a high note in fashion; MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a larger-than-life diva with a voice to match; ARTIE (Kevin McHale), a geeky guitarist who rocks and rolls; and TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz), a punk rocker who hides behind her stutter and blue hair extensions.

Will’s only hope lies with two true talents: RACHEL BERRY (Lea Michele), a self-proclaimed star who is convinced that MySpace and show choir and are her tickets to fame; and FINN HUDSON (Cory Monteith), the popular high school quarterback with movie star looks who must protect his reputation from his holier-than-thou girlfriend and “Cheerios” head cheerleader, QUINN (Dianna Agron), and his arrogant football teammate, PUCK (Mark Salling).

Will is determined to do whatever it takes to make Glee great again, but his only ally is fellow teacher and germaphobe EMMA PILLSBURY (Jayma Mays). Everyone else around him thinks he’s nuts – from his tough-as-nails wife TERRI SCHUESTER (Jessalyn Gilsig) to McKinley’s scheming cheerleading coach SUE SYLVESTER (Jane Lynch) – but he’s out to prove them wrong.

The full track listing for “Glee: The Music, Volume 1” is as follows:

“Don’t Stop Believin’”

“Can’t Fight This Feeling”

“Take a Bow”

“Bust Your Windows”

THE VIEW SEASON PREMIERE

New York, N.Y.,  August 31st, 2009.               ABC Daytime's "The View" returns for a new season TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 with a host of exciting new features and viewer opportunities. "The focus of the 2009-10 season of 'The View' is to make the show more interactive with a less formal, more contemporary feel" said Bill Geddie, executive producer. "The end result will be a show that is raw, while still being relevant," he added. The new season will concentrate more heavily on cross promotional opportunities with the show's official website at abc.com/theview. Digital camcorder-taped pieces with the individual co-hosts, exclusive backstage access -- including interviews with guests, co-hosts and the staff (known to the viewing audience as "The View Crew") -- prior to the live broadcast will all become an integral part of the daily programming. "The show's website will be as inclusive and as varied as the show itself," said Geddie.

Audience involvement continues to play a pivotal role. While the in-studio audience will now announce who is on the program in the show's "cold open" and close the show, at-home viewers will have the unique opportunity to submit videos with questions for guests, hosts and even suggest 'Hot Topics'; receive exclusive "backstage passes" that allow them access to events being filmed for the show; pick topics of interest to them, and appear on the show via Skype(r). Additionally, Skype will be used for special guest appearances.

"We will go back to showcasing the green room during the live broadcasts. It was always designed to be a part of the show," said Geddie.

Video exclusives currently featured on the website such as "What I'm Wearing" with Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Geddie's daily video blog series entitled "An Inside View," and exit interviews with celebrities and guests leaving the studio will become regular features on "The View." The show has developed "ViewTube," used to brand anything featured on the show filmed outside the studio walls. "There will be more emphasis on behind-the-scenes, comedy and overall spontaneity," said Geddie.

A number of new segments will roll out during the new season, including surprise 'Hot Topics,' a reality TV roundup and returning favorites like "Joy's Month in ReVIEW."

In October, "The View" will unveil a series of Halloween treats (or perhaps tricks?) all leading up to their 13th Halloween show, Friday, Oct. 30. It's going to be a Halloween like you've never, ever seen before on "The View."

Guests

Rod Blagojevich, the indicted former governor of Illinois, makes his second guest appearance on ABC's "The View," live on September 9, where he'll be joined by his wife, Patti Blagojevich, for an exclusive joint interview. Mr. Blagojevich will be promoting his highly anticipated forthcoming book, "The Governor."

Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is the featured guest on Friday,
Sept. 11, marking the eight-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks. This is Mr. Giuliani's only daytime television talk show appearance.

Guest co-hosts

The guest co-hosts for the first six weeks will receive digital camcorders to record their feelings about co-hosting the show, allowing for promotional opportunities on-air and online.

Meghan McCain, daughter of former GOP presidential candidate John McCain, is scheduled to guest co-host Sept. 9 and 10, followed by Kate Gosselin on Sept. 14 and15, La Toya Jackson on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18 and former Fox News Channel anchor E.D. Hill on Sept. 23-24.

Viewers will be treated to a reworked show open (featuring a new graphics package) with a variety of words that express the diverse subject matter discussed on "The View." The current set will be revamped with a vibrant new color theme.

"The View's" Season Premiere airs live on ABC, SEPTEMBER 8 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET). Through Sept. 4, viewers can visit the show's official website at ABC.com/theview for a countdown of the Top 10 most outrageous and talked-about moments from last season. Plus the site now features an up-to-the-minute online clock to count down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the launch of the new season.

"The View" features Daytime Emmy(r) Award-winning hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. It's the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations. Since its launch, "The View" has received 28 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show host honoring Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. Daytime Emmy Award history was made on Aug. 30, 2009 when the hosts of "The View" were awarded the Emmy for "Outstanding Talk Show Host.," It was the first time in the 36 year history of NATAS that multiple hosts were bestowed that honor in this category. "The View" has received 11 consecutive nominations for Outstanding Daytime Talk Show and 12 consecutive nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Host. Visit "The View" on the Web at abc.com/theview.

The program is broadcast in HDTV with 5.1-channel surround sound, and is now available to watch online daily at 4:00 p.m., ET/1:00 p.m., PT on the ABC Digital Full Episode Player at ABC.com. "The View" is produced by ABC Daytime and Ms. Walters' Barwall Productions, with Ms. Walters serving as executive producer along with Bill Geddie, who also serves as executive producer for "The Barbara Walters Specials." DISNEY TO ACQUIRE MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT

Burbank, Ca. and New York, N.Y., August 31, 2009.               Building on its strategy of delivering  quality branded content to people  around the world, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS)  has agreed to acquire Marvel Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:MVL) in a stock and cash transaction, the companies announced today.

Under the terms of the agreement and based on the closing price of Disney on August 28, 2009, Marvel shareholders would receive a total of $30 per share in cash plus approximately 0.745 Disney shares for each Marvel share they own. At closing, the amount of cash and stock will be adjusted if necessary so that the total value of the Disney stock issued as merger consideration based on its trading value at that time is not less than 40% of the total merger consideration.
Based on the closing price of Disney stock on Friday, August 28, the transaction value is $50 per Marvel share or approximately $4 billion.

"This transaction combines Marvel's strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney's creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories," said Robert A. Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. "Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney."

"We believe that adding Marvel to Disney's unique portfolio of brands provides significant opportunities for long-term growth and value creation," Iger said.

"Disney is the perfect home for Marvel's fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses," said Ike Perlmutter, Marvel's Chief Executive Officer.  "This is an unparalleled opportunity for Marvel to build upon its vibrant brand and character properties by accessing Disney's tremendous global organization and infrastructure around the world."

Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of Marvel including its more than 5,000 Marvel characters.  Mr. Perlmutter will oversee the Marvel properties, and will work directly with Disney's global lines of business to build and further integrate Marvel's properties.

The Boards of Directors of Disney and Marvel have each approved the transaction, which is subject to clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act, certain non-United States merger control regulations, effectiveness of a registration statement with respect to Disney shares issued in the transaction and other customary closing conditions. The agreement will require the approval of Marvel shareholders.  Marvel was advised on the transaction by BofA Merrill Lynch.
