ABC ANNOUNCES FIVE NEW SERIES PICK-UPS

New York, N.Y.,  -  August 27, 2008.            ABC is adding five new series to its slate of programming for the 2008-09 season, it was announced today by Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment. The series include three new dramas, "Castle," "Cupid" and "The Unusuals," and two new comedies, "Better Off Ted" and "Single with Parents."

"It was worth taking the time to go through the pilot process to really do it right," said McPherson. "We're excited about these series and feel they're perfect additions to our dominant core slate of shows. These are the initial pick-ups, but there are a number of other pilots we feel will also get the go ahead in some form moving forward."

New series previously announced are drama "Life on Mars," comedies "The Goode Family" and "Scrubs" (new to ABC), and alternative series "Opportunity Knocks" and "Untitled Ashton Kutcher/Tyra Banks Project."

Dramas

"Castle" is a comedic crime procedural about a famous mystery novelist, Nick Castle, who is bored with his own success. When a real-world copycat murderer starts staging scenes from Nick's novels, Nick is teamed up with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett and the challenge gets his blood pumping as he steps in to help solve the crime. Nick and Beckett's styles instantly clash and sparks begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance. Nick is kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother, quick-witted teenage daughter and his long-suffering ex-wife... who happens to be his editor. "Castle" stars Nathan Fillion as Castle, Stana Katic as Beckett, Molly Quinn as Alexis, Susan Sullivan as Martha, Monet Mazur as Gina and Ruben Santiago-Hudson as Capt. Montgomery. Produced by ABC Studios. Andrew Marlowe serves as executive producer/writer, along with executive producers Laurie Zaks, Armyan Bernstein and Rob Bowman.

"Cupid" is a romantic dramedy about Trevor, a larger than life character who may or may not be the Roman god of love, Cupid, sent to earth to bring couples together. As fate would have it, Trevor is under the care of famous psychologist and self-help author Dr. Claire Allen, who is also dedicated to helping lonely hearts find their soul mates. While she agrees with his cause, she questions whether he's crazy or really is Cupid. "Cupid" stars Bobby Cannavale as Trevor, Sarah Paulson as Claire, Rick Gomez as Felix and Camille Guaty as Lita. Produced by ABC Studios. Rob Thomas serves as executive producer/writer along with executive producers Jennifer Gwartz, Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge and Bharat Nalluri.

"The Unusuals" is a unique comedic procedural set in a New York police precinct. As a cop, it helps to have a twisted sense of humor, because every moment could be your last. Just ask Casey Schraeger, who started her day as an NYPD vice detective before unexpectedly being transferred to the homicide division. She quickly realizes that, not only does everyone in her new department have a distinct sense of humor, but also their own dirty little secrets. "The Unusuals" stars Amber Tamblyn as Det. Casey Schraeger, Jeremy Renner as Det. Joe Walsh, Terry Kinney as Sgt. Harvey Brown, Kai Lennox as Det. Ed Alvarez, Harold Perrineau as Det. Leo Banks, Adam Goldberg as Det. Eric Delahoy, Monique Gabriela Curnen as Det. Allison Beaumont and Joshua Close as Henry Cole. Produced by Sony Pictures Television. Noah Hawley is executive producer/writer.

Comedies

"Better Off Ted" is a satirical office comedy featuring a successful but morally conscious man, Ted, who runs a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. No achievement is too far fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian. Need a suicidal turkey? Done. Need a metal that is hard as steel but bounces - and is edible? Done and done. Ted loves his seemingly perfect job; he loves his superhuman boss, Veronica, and colleagues Lem, Phil and Linda, but he's starting to take a closer look at the company's extremely questionable practices... especially when they try to cryogenically freeze one of Ted's scientists for testing purposes. Starring Jay Harrington as Ted, Andrea Anders as Linda, Portia de Rossi as Veronica, Jonathan Slavin as Phil and Malcolm Barrett as Lem, "Better Off Ted" is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Victor Fresco is executive producer/writer.

"Single with Parents" is a comedy about Lou, a woman in her mid-30s who is determined to have her own life despite her crazy blended family getting in the way. She's thrilled that her divorced parents are leading exciting lives - really she is - except both of them rely on her way too much. Dad needs her as a surrogate parent and Mom counts on her 24/7 as a shrink and confidante. Lou has resolved to finally find a fulfilling life for herself. The series stars Alyssa Milano as Lou, Annie Potts as Elizabeth, Beau Bridges as Joe, Amanda Detmer as Sasha, Meagen Fay as Nancy and Eric Winter as Charlie. Based on her own experiences, "Single with Parents" is executive-produced and written by Kristin Newman. Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Matthew Carlson are also executive producers. The show is produced by FTP Productions in association with ABC Studios.

Returning series on the fall schedule are "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Boston Legal," "Brothers & Sisters," "Dancing with the Stars," "Desperate Housewives," "Dirty Sexy Money," "Eli Stone," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "Grey's Anatomy," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Private Practice," "Pushing Daisies," "Samantha Who?," "Supernanny," "Ugly Betty," "Wife Swap" and "20/20."

Returning midseason series include "According to Jim," "The Bachelor," "Lost" and ABC News' "Primetime."

“HOLE IN THE WALL” TAKES AN EARLY JUMP WITH SPECIAL PREVIEWS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 AND TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, ON FOX. SERIES PREMIERE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11.

Los Angeles, Ca.,  August 27, 2008.            HOLE IN THE WALL, the body-bending, global game show phenomenon from AMERICAN IDOL producers FremantleMedia North America, will air special preview episodes Sunday, Sept. 7 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) following FOX’s first NFL doubleheader of the season and Tuesday, Sept. 9 (9:35-10:00 PM ET/PT) following the series premiere of FRINGE on FOX.  HOLE IN THE WALL will have its one-hour series premiere Thursday, Sept. 11 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

HOLE IN THE WALL became an instant ratings success story on-air and online after launching on Japan’s Fuji TV in July 2006, where it continues to rank No. 1 in its timeslot. The format swiftly created waves around the world, with FremantleMedia currently producing versions in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Sweden and the U.K.

Hosted by Brooke Burns (“Dog Eat Dog”) and Mark Thompson (“Guinness World Records: Primetime”), HOLE IN THE WALL is one of the trickiest, fastest, funniest and wettest shows on the planet where speed, agility and a hearty sense of humor are essential tools to survive. During each episode, two teams of three compete against each other in multiple rounds of play, facing various barrier walls speeding toward them with weird and wacky cut-out shapes. Each team must contort their bodies individually or in unison to fit through the wall or be swept away into a pool below. As players struggle to strike a pose, points – and dignity – can be easily lost with a simple miscalculation. As the rounds progress and the pace heats up, mind over matter, quick thinking, coordination, agility and clever teamwork play a crucial role as each team strives to maneuver through walls literally closing in on them. The team with the most points at the end of the competition will win $25,000 and the chance to face the dreaded “Blind Wall” for the opportunity to win an additional $100,000.

NBC ANNOUNCES CONTESTANTS FOR EXCITING NEW FAMILY EDITION OF HIT WEIGHT LOSS SERIES 'THE BIGGEST LOSER,' PREMIERING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 (8-10 P.M. ET)

BURBANK, Calif. – August 28, 2008.
NBC announced today the eight families – eight teams of two -- who will be competing in "The Biggest Loser: Families," premiering Tuesday, September 16 (8-10 p.m. ET). Alison Sweeney (NBC's "Days of our Lives") hosts the popular series, and trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels also star.

It's all about families in season six of "The Biggest Loser," which features four husband-and-wife teams and four parent-child duos trying to lose weight through diet and exercise as they compete for a grand prize of $250,000. Harper will train the spouses, while Michaels trains the parents and their adult children.

With the focus on families comes more emotion and drama than ever before, as contestants share their compelling stories, including a mother and daughter who were estranged for over five years before going on the show, newlyweds who want to get healthy so they can have kids, a father with more life-threatening health issues than any contestant in the history of the show, and parents who want to get healthy to be better examples to their kids – including their overweight four-year-old daughter who already outweighs their seven-year-old son.

For the first time in the history of "The Biggest Loser," contestants will learn they've been chosen for the show directly from Harper and Michaels, who fly all over the country to surprise contestants in their hometowns with the exciting news. Then it's off to "The Biggest Loser" ranch in California, where the contestants get a wake-up call from the show's doctor about what ages their bodies really are vs. their chronological ages because of obesity. Then the eight teams compete in their first challenge -- and the lucky winner gets immunity from the first elimination of the season.

The new teams competing for the $250,000 grand prize are:

Parent-child teams:

Renee Wilson (Event manager), 46, and her daughter, Michelle Aguilar (Assistant director), 26, Ft. Worth, Texas.

Tom Desrochers Sr. (Cab driver), 42, and his son Tom Desrochers Jr. (Cab driver), 22, Everett, Massachusetts.

NBC'S 'SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE' RETURNS ON SEPTEMBER 13 WITH OLYMPIC PHENOMENON MICHAEL PHELPS & MUSICAL GUEST LIL WAYNE

NEW YORK, N.Y., – August 27, 2008
.              "Saturday Night Live" makes its 34th season premiere on Saturday, September 13 featuring two of the biggest names of the summer – Michael Phelps and hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne.

US Olympic swimming phenomenon Michael Phelps will make his acting debut hosting the season premiere hot off his record-shattering performance in Beijing.

The SNL season premiere kicks off four live shows in a row, a rare practice that generated momentum for the show this past spring when the show returned after the WGA Strike-imposed hiatus. All told, seven all-new SNL’s will air on Saturdays prior to the election.

Phelps went a perfect 8-for-8 in Beijing, breaking Mark Spitz's single-Games record for most gold medals won. In addition, Phelps broke another Olympics record, becoming the most decorated Olympian in history, winning a stunning 14 career gold medals. Phelps currently holds seven world records in swimming.

Unprecedented millions tuned in to watch Phelps in action, from the US Swim Team’s explosive victory over the French in the 4x100m freestyle relay, by just .08 of a second; to Phelps’ record-demolishing performance in the 4x200m freestyle relay breaking the record by more than four seconds and his seventh gold medal win, beating Serbia’s Milorad Cavic by the slimmest and most dramatic margin imaginable – one-one-hundredth of a second.

Joining Phelps and also making his SNL debut is hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne.

Not only one of the best rappers of his generation, Lil Wayne is arguably the biggest story in music for 2008. His sixth album “Tha Carter III” sold over 1 million copies in its first week of release, a feat not achieved since 2005’s “The Massacre” by 50 Cent. “Tha Carter III” has blazed up the singles charts as well with three top-five singles in “Lollipop,” “A Milli” and “Got Money.” In addition to the platinum debut numbers for the CD, Wayne is a tireless performer so prolific that in 2007, Vibe magazine ranked and graded songs to which Wayne contributed and the list was 77 songs long. Wayne is a constant presence on the internet, releasing his own mixtapes for free on a regular basis. He has been one of GQ’s “Men of the Year” for 2007 and was named the “Best Rock Star Alive” by Blender magazine (2008). Rolling Stone may have said it best: “The self-proclaimed greatest rapper proves he wasn’t kidding.”

In addition to the revved-up Saturday schedule, “SNL” is ready for primetime with "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday." Three LIVE primetime half-hours beginning October 9 at 9:30pm ET. These primetime special editions will be anchored by the show's signature “Weekend Update.” This marks a return to the NBC Thursday night lineup for “SNL,” which produced similar live "Update"-centered broadcasts in 2001.

EMMY- AND TONY-WINNING ACTRESS BLYTHE DANNER TO GUEST STAR ON NBC'S 'MEDIUM,' WITH EMMY-WINNING PATRICIA ARQUETTE, AS THE MOTHER OF MISSING NURSE WITH A CHRONICALLY-ILL STEP-DAUGHTER

BURBANK, Calif. – August 27, 2008
.              Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2," "Huff") will guest star in NBC's midseason drama "Medium," with Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette, in an episode entitled "A Taste of Her Own Medicine." Danner will play Sarah Leaming, a local councilman's wife and mother to a missing private nurse, whose extraordinary dedication to her chronically-ill step-daughter's care led to some unconventional measures, it was announced today by Executive Producer Glenn Gordon Caron.

"Continuing a tradition of asking world-class actresses to come join us on 'Medium,' I am thrilled to announce that Blythe Danner will appear in one of the early episodes of Season 5," said Caron. "I have seen her work at Williamstown, on the Broadway stage, as well as on film and television and to finally have the opportunity to actually work with her is a real honor for me and an exhilarating treat for the cast."

Danner is a prolific Emmy- and Tony-winning actress who has appeared in numerous stage, screen, and film roles. She first gained national attention at age 25 by winning the Theatre World Award for her performance in the Lincoln Center Rep's production of "The Miser" and went on to win a Tony Award in 1970 for her Broadway debut in "Butterflies Are Free." She also received Tony nominations in 1980 for the original Broadway production of Harold Pinter's "Betrayal," in 1988 for a revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire," and again in 2001 for a revival of Stephen Sondheim's "Follies." For 25 years, she has been a regular performer at the Williamstown Summer Theater Festival, where she also serves on the Board of Directors.

In 2005 and 2006, Danner won the Emmy for her role as Izzy in "Huff." In 2005, she was nominated for three Emmy Awards for her work on "Will and Grace," "Huff" and "Back When We Were Grownups."

In film, Danner currently stars in "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" and the upcoming "Side by Each" and "The Lightkeepers." She received recent wide attention for her role opposite Robert De Niro in the comedy hit "Meet the Parents" and its sequel, "Meet the Fockers," with Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman. Danner also appeared in "Sylvia" with her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow. Her earliest starring film roles were in "To Kill a Clown," opposite Alan Alda, and in the title role of "Lovin' Molly," directed by Sidney Lumet. She has appeared in two films based on the novels of Pat Conroy – "The Great Santini" and "The Prince of Tides," as well as two television movies adapted from books by Anne Tyler, "Saint Maybe" and "Back When We Were Grownups." Danner has also appeared in three Woddy Allen movies, "Another Woman," "Alice" and "Husbands and Wives."

ABC AND PEOPLE TEAM UP FOR PRIMETIME SPECIAL "HALF THEIR SIZE:  THE PEOPLE MAGAZINE WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE," AIRING TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 ON ABC TV

New York, N.Y.,  -  August 27, 2008.            Special Follows Eight Men and Women from the Nation's Most Overweight State for Nine Months and Reveals their Remarkable Body Transformations and Emotional Discoveries ABC and PEOPLE will team up for an original one-hour primetime special, "Half Their Size: The PEOPLE Magazine Weight Loss Challenge," airing TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"Half Their Size: The PEOPLE Magazine Weight Loss Challenge" will follow eight residents from Mississippi, the nation's most overweight state, on an emotional journey to lose weight and overcome adversity. Taken from the pages of one of PEOPLE's biggest franchises -- "Half their Size" -- the 'Mississippi 8' were followed over nine months as they struggled to lose weight the old fashioned way -- through diet and exercise; no surgery or gimmicks. The participants will be revealed in PEOPLE on newsstands Friday, September 26, prior to the premiere of the television special.

"We're thrilled to bring the 'Half their Size' franchise to life on ABC," said Managing Editor Larry Hackett. "Our readers come to PEOPLE for motivational stories of weight loss, and these Mississippi residents are no exception. Their hard work and commitment to changing their health -- and their lives -- is nothing short of inspirational."

The special will take viewers inside the lives of these eight Mississippi residents, each of whom, last January, accepted PEOPLE's challenge to spend nine months slimming down in 2008. PEOPLE supplied the trainers and nutritionists, but the 'Mississippi 8' supplied the willpower, fitting in diet and exercise with work, family and many other everyday obligations.

Cameras filmed the subjects during brutal gym sessions, healthy grocery shopping, weigh-ins, doctor visits and important life events, including the birth of a child. Candid emotional interviews detail the daily struggles, sweat, tears and temptations facing them en route to their quest for happier, healthier lives. Tune in on September 30 to witness their incredible journeys.

CBS AND COOKIE JAR ENTERTAINMENT PRESENT THE 2008-09 CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE FOR "KEWLOPOLIS ON CBS" PREMIERING SATURDAY, SEPT. 13

New York, N.Y.,  August 28, 2008.            CBS and Cookie Jar Entertainment present "Kewlopolis on CBS," set to premiere Saturday, Sept. 13 on the CBS Television Network.  The three-hour, E/I-compliant programming block exclusive to broadcast television is comprised of six returning favorite programs, including new episodes of "HorselandTM," "Dino SquadTM," "Sushi PackTM" and "Care Bears: Adventures in Care-A-LotTM," and past episodes of  "CakeTM" and "Strawberry ShortcakeTM."

The Kewlopolis block will once again feature animated interstitials with "TinPo" characters, showcasing such themes as identifying problems and exploring solutions, overcoming adversity, the value of teamwork and seeing things from a different perspective. Nine new live-action "CAKE" interstitials hosted by Christa B. Allen have also been added, demonstrating how to make such crafts as a keepsake box and a desk organizer.

In addition, the Web destination and official site, http://www.kewlopolis.com/, has all of the updated show information, which ties into all of the programming airing on the Saturday morning television block. The online community serves an FCC and COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)-compliant social networking destination for kid's 6-12 as well as a portal to individual series Web sites. The site also features programming information, games, polls, news and more.

Following are the program descriptions with ratings:

CAKE (E/I, 8-12, TV-Y7) is a live-action show within a show about a 13-year-old girl who hosts a cable access show with her three best friends.  Together, they teach their audience (and each other) how to take ordinary, everyday items (t-shirts, cd cases, lamp shades) and make them extraordinary with a little imagination (and a glue gun!)

HORSELAND (E/I, 9-11, TV-Y7) follows the animated adventures of four amazing kids and their horses who come together in an incredible place called Horseland. As these friends strive to become the best competitive riders they can possibly be, the kids and their equine companions must learn to deal with difficult situations and confront an array of problems that put their honesty, integrity, self-confidence - and sometimes even their friendship to the test.

DINO SQUAD (E/I, 9-11, TV-Y7) features five quirky teens who suddenly gain the power to transform into dinosaurs.  Their science teacher, the mysterious Ms. Moynihan, guides them as they learn to work together and use their unique abilities to protect Earth from an anthropomorphic Velociraptor who is creating mutant-saurs and accelerating global warming in his quest to bring back the Age of the Dinosaurs. Oh, and yes, they still have to get their homework done.

SUSHI PACK (E/I, 9-11, TV-Y7) follows five crime-fighting pieces of sushi that protect Wharf City from over-the-top diabolical villains. The humor-filled, action-packed TV treatment for "Sushi Pack" was written by animation legends Tom Ruegger and Nicholas Hollander, the Emmy-winning writers/producers behind such animated hits as "Animaniacs," "Tiny Toon Adventures" and "Pinky and the Brain."

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (E/I, 3-6, TV-Y) follows the good-hearted and lovable adventures of Strawberry Shortcake and her friends who live together in the "berry sweet" world of Strawberryland. With darling and mischievous characters like her sister, Apple Dumplin', her friends, Huckleberry Pie, Ginger Snap, Orange Blossom and Angel Cake, and her pets, Custard and Pupcake,  Strawberry Shortcake and her friends grow better all the time, exploring whimsical new lands while learning valuable lessons.

CARE BEARS: ADVENTURES IN CARE-A-LOT (E/I, 5-7, TV-Y) features funny, colorful bears, each with a special way of caring and a belly badge to match.  Cheer Bear, Funshine, Share Bear, Grumpy and Oopsy live in the beautiful cloud world of Care-a-lot.  They use caring hearts and their powerful belly badges to help each other and to thwart the evil plots of Grizzle, a bad bear with his own flying lair.  Through it all the Care Bears help kids understand caring and feelings.

OPENING REMARKS FROM THE "LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN" ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

"Boy, it's great, we go from one exciting thing - the Olympics - just wrapped up the Olympics, and now on to the Democratic Convention in Denver.  The theme of the Democratic Convention is unity, unity.  Unfortunately, they can't agree on how that works."

"Joe Biden - oh, by the way, did you hear about this?   Joe Biden is Barack Obama's running mate, huh?  Yeah, nothing says change like a guy who has been in the Senate for 35 years."

"Hey, talk about big events - how about the Democratic Convention?  You folks watching the Democratic Convention?  And today, I don't know if you know the line-up of speakers:  today, we've got Dennis Kucinich today speaking at the convention; Senator Bob Casey, Bob Casey; a keynote speech from former Virginia Governor Mark Warner.  Wow - break out the Budweiser!"

"And, of course, today Hillary Clinton spoke at the Democratic National Convention, and Bill Clinton was there.  And Hillary spoke, and Bill cheered and applauded during Hillary's speech, and so was his date."

"And then what they did, they showed an inspirational film about the political career of Hillary Clinton, and whoa - moving, terribly dramatic and very insightful.  The name of the film about Hillary Clinton I believe was entitled 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuit.'"

"Everybody been watching the Democratic National Convention?  I like watching it.  I mean, it's - it's not really exciting.  But it's fun to watch, you know?  As a matter of fact, here's the list of speakers for tonight.  You're going to have Senator Harry Reid, former New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen and Charles Schumer, senator from New York.  I'm telling you, fire up the TiVo!"

"And by the way, if the election were held tomorrow, who would vote for Barack Obama?  ...Who would vote for John McCain?  They are, as you probably know, ideologically speaking, they are two completely different nominees.  For example, one offers you hope, one offers you hope, and the other offers you a dish of hard candy."

"And how about Hillary Clinton last night at the Democratic Convention in Denver?  Wasn't that amazing?  She wore a bright orange pantsuit - looked like a Cal-Trans worker on the Hollywood Freeway."

"But Hillary - Hillary gave a rousing speech.  It was so passionate, emotional - I'm telling you, Nancy Pelosi's face almost moved."

"And then earlier tonight, her husband, Bill Clinton, spoke at the convention, and what a great speech.  What a tremendous speech - he got four standing ovations and five phone numbers."

"And they say that Barack Obama now is a little bit down in the polls.  Now this is a surprise because after they announced the vice presidential candidate, you get that Joe Biden bounce.  They were hoping to get that Joe Biden bounce.  Now, don't confuse that Joe Biden bounce with a Bill Clinton bounce - that will get you impeached."

"Have you folks been watching the Democratic National Convention?  Kind of exciting, isn't it?  I mean, not exciting like the Olympics, but still sort of interesting.  And last night, Barack Obama was officially nominated Democratic candidate for President of the United States, last night, yeah.  Certainly an historic moment for America, and I want to tell you something, things - I really think things are starting to look bad for Hillary."

"And then former President Bill Clinton spoke at the convention last night.  Did you see that?  Whoa, I mean he comes out and he really kind of turns the dump over, you know what I mean?  He's a powerful orator.  And, but this was sort of sad - did you see this in the middle of Clinton's speech, wandering out on stage is John McCain in his bathrobe."

"Oh, this is exciting - John McCain now has finally decided on his vice president.  Yeah, the only question now is from which house will he make the announcement."

"I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but this Democratic convention, they're trying to be environmentally friendly.  They're trying to recycle and use a lot of stuff.  They're being very conscious about the environment:  biodegradable balloons - I know, I know; recyclable cans, of course; and the confetti, you know the confetti that they drop? that's actually shredded Clinton subpoenas."

"And then tonight, tonight Barack Obama speaks to the convention and they moved it to the stadium there in Denver - like 75,000 people.  And I'm telling you, the construction crew has been working around the clock painting the stadium, scrubbing the stadium, plastering - it's the same team that works on Nancy Pelosi."

"And this was cute:  Barack Obama's daughters had a sleepover in the hotel.  They had 15 girlfriends sleeping in their hotel room.  Coincidentally, so did Bill Clinton."

"Beautiful day here in New York City - am I right about this?  Wasn't it a stunningly beautiful day here?  It was so nice today in New York City that John McCain is buying a house here."

"Last week, they asked John McCain, they said, 'How many houses do you own?'  And he says, 'I'll have to get back to you.'  And I was thinking about this: I have two houses.  Well, actually three, if you count the champagne room at Flashdancers."

"And now you know Monday, up there in Minneapolis, the Republican Convention begins.  Are you aware of that?  And here's the exciting part about that:  delegates, when they arrive, will attend a reception.  They get right off the plane, attend a reception at the airport restroom hosted by Sen. Larry Craig."

"By God, and by coincidence, happy birthday to John McCain, ladies and gentlemen - John McCain, 72 years old.  If we were going to vote tomorrow, who would vote for Barack Obama?  Who would vote for Kay Ballard...?  Who would vote for John McCain?  Okay, there you go.  Anyway, today is his birthday, 72 years old, and they brought him out the cake with the candles and they say now that the fire is 30% contained, so that's good."

"I thought this was weird.  Last week, a reporter says to John McCain, 'How many homes do you own?'  Seems like a straightforward enough question.  And John McCain said, 'I'm going to have to get back to you on that.'  Like there's a deal hanging in the balance?  It could be eight, could be nine - we don't know.  You know, it's the same problem Larry King has with his wives."

"So we looked into this, and we did some research and we found out - John McCain lives out there in Arizona, you know.  We found he has a number of ranches - I didn't realize this.  He owns a number of ranches.  I didn't realize this.  For example, the 'Casa Angina' is one of his.  The 'Lazy Colon' - have you ever been there?  It's beautiful.  The 'Double-A RP,' that's a beautiful spread.

The 'Rancho Mylanta' is very nice. The 'Fort Maalox,' you want to take a trip out there, or the 'Casa Sciatica...'"

"How about this - did you see the closing ceremonies of the Olympics there in Beijing?  Did you see the closing?  You know, what's amazing to me about the closing ceremonies, during the closing ceremonies, Michael Phelps won two more gold medals."

"But, I mean, the kid [Michael Phelps], give him credit, is on top of the world now.  He's riding high, he's on magazine covers, he gets endorsement deals, he's on cereal boxes, and tomorrow he has a tryout with Madonna."

"But, yeah, it really was a beautiful day.  They gave eight gold medals to Al Roker."

"Did you folks see the Olympics?  Did you watch the Olympics?  It was exciting.  Wasn't the Olympics exciting?  And it's the kind of thing where, at the beginning, you think, 'Oh, it's the Olympics,' and then you start watching and it really does get to be kind of a thing, and you're wishing, 'Well, could they be on every week?'  That would be great, wouldn't it?  And how about that Michael Phelps - wasn't that an amazing display?  Eight Olympic gold medals, eight Olypmic gold medals, but to me, that's not the most impressive thing.  The most impressive thing is the guy is actually swimming home from China."

"By the way, before we really get rolling here tonight, happy birthday to Regis Philbin, ladies and gentlemen.  Today is his birthday - 77 years old today - and Regis celebrated quietly with his money."

"But, you know, I like to kid Regis because of his age, but 77, that's impressive.  And, by the way, did you that his first co-host [was] Eve."

"Now, here's something:  you folks know about baseball?  You love baseball?  It's America's pastime.  They're now talking about using instant replay to judge close calls.  Are you aware of this?  Yeah, starting this week, they're going to make the game a little longer.  Going to turn a five-hour game into a 5:45 game, maybe six hours if you're lucky.  But they're going to start using instant replay, and I believe they've already been using it in Madonna's bedroom."

"By the way, another celebrity birthday - Michael Jackson...Michael Jackson having a birthday, 50 years old today.  Fifty years old today, yep, and it's also his 20th anniversary of being creepy."

"But he had his annual physical, and the doctor said that Michael Jackson is in great shape for 50.  As a matter of fact, he said he has the body of a much younger woman."
