(October 4th, 2007 - Editor)      Former Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon has signed on to a prime-time comedy for NBC to be titled Kath and Kim. Shannon will play one half of a mother-daughter duo in a  remake of the Australian TV hit. The US version of Kath and Kim comes from writer Michelle Nader (The King Of Queens). The comedy centers on the relationship between mother Kath Day-Knight (Shannon) and her adult daughter Kim, who has yet to be cast. The original show aired in the USA on BBC America and the Sundance Channel.

          Wrestling legend and television icon Hulk Hogan (Hogan Knows Best) will flex his hosting muscle for NBC's latest midseason primetime offering, the return of the competition series American Gladiators. The announcement was made October 3rd by Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.

"Hulk Hogan is an American icon," said Plestis. "For over twenty years he has been a symbol of strength and toughness in all facets of entertainment. His electrifying personality will no doubt inspire Herculean efforts from our everyday challengers. There is no one more qualified to host this program."

          NBC will introduce the reality series My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad, a fun-filled, family-friendly competition series from the producers of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (Mark Burnett Productions) and NBC's The Biggest Loser" (Reveille). Dads will be at the forefront of the action competing with their families in a series of unique stunt-driven challenges. In the end, the families will win the ultimate prize and bragging rights.

The eight-episode series, slated for mid-season, was announced September 26th by Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.

"Every kid thinks their dad is the best, and this series is designed to let them see who really is top dog on the block," said Plestis. "Plus, the children will benefit with prize money that can be used for their future education. I also feel very confident because this series is in the capable hands of Reveille and Mark Burnett Productions, who are the 'big daddies' of the reality genre."

The dads will lead their respective families in exciting and entertaining stunt games and larger than life challenges that all parents can relate to. Ultimately, the triumphant family will strut away with money for their children's futures. Likewise, valuable prizes will be given away as the competition progresses.

          ABC has asked Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas to revive his former cult classic series Cupid for possible airing on the network. The quirky drama will keep its original premise: A man recently released from a mental institution insists he's the god of love, banished to Earth for shoddy work and trying to unite (or reunite) 100 couples to gain re-admittance to Mt. Olympus. Intrigued, his court-appointed psychologist decides to keep tabs on him.

          CBS has announced a premiere date for its Lonesome Dove prequel titled Comanche Moon. The six hour miniseries will air on three nights, for two hours each night, on December 30th, January 1st and January 2nd. The network offered no explanation as to why the prequel to the most successful mini-series in the history of television would not be aired during a ratings sweeps period, as was the case with the original series.
