NBC BREEZES INTO NOVEMBER SWEEPS WITH HOLIDAY-THEMED PROGRAMMING, SPECIAL SERIES EPISODES AND POPULAR GUEST STARS

Universal City, Ca., October 27th, 2009.               NBC breaks out the bright colors for its November sweeps programming with a night of Halloween-themed episodes of "The Office," "Community," "Parks and Recreation" and "30 Rock" on October 29, a special week of "Green Is Universal" programming November 15-22, an all-new DreamWorks animated special "Merry Madagascar" on Tuesday, November 17, a special Washington, D.C. episode of "The Biggest Loser"-featuring a visit to the White House kitchen garden on Tuesday, November 3-and a bounty of popular series guest stars.

The October-November guest stars featured include Elisabeth Moss, Tim Gunn, Suze Orman, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara, Megan Mullally, Erika Christensen, NBC News' Brian Williams, Elisabeth Rohm, NFL Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, Jeff Dunham, John Laroquette, Jayma Mays, Jimmy Fallon and Christine Lahti.

As part of "Green is Universal," the company's ongoing environmental initiative, NBC will air green-themed programming November 15-22 with special episodes of "Heroes," "The Biggest Loser," "Mercy," "Trauma," "Law & Order: SVU," "Parks and Recreation," "The Office," "30 Rock" and "Law & Order."

Meanwhile, "The Biggest Loser" showcases our nation's capital with a peek inside the White House kitchen garden in a special edition from Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, November 3 (8-10 p.m. ET). Tim Gunn and Tabatha Coffey return to "The Biggest Loser" to transform the contestants on the popular makeover episode airing Tuesday, November 17 (8-10 p.m. ET). Likewise, "Loser" will catch up with some of its most popular contestants on "The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now?" special airing Wednesday, November 25 (8-10 p.m. ET).

NBC will also feature an all-new original holiday special "Merry Madagascar" from DreamWorks Animation starring the voices of Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith and Andy Richter airing Tuesday, November 17 (8-8:30 p.m. ET).

NBC PICKS UP COMEDIES 'COMMUNITY' AND 'PARKS AND RECREATION' AS WELL AS FRESHMAN DRAMA 'MERCY' FOR FULL-SEASON COMMITMENTS

Universal City, Ca., October 23rd, 2009.               NBC has picked up the comedies "Community" (Thursdays, 8-8:30 p.m. ET) and "Parks and Recreation" (Thursdays, 8:30-9 p.m. ET) -- as well as the new drama "Mercy" (Wednesdays, 8-9 p.m. ET) -- for the rest of the season by adding nine additional episodes to each, it was announced today by Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios.

"We are very pleased with the critical and audience reaction to our wonderful new comedy 'Community,'" said Bromstad. "The cast and producers are delivering a first-rate, quality show that is very promising as the newest of NBC's first-rate Thursday-night comedies."

About "Mercy," Bromstad added: "This drama has found a dedicated audience and continues to build in the ratings. We've seen future episodes and we're confident 'Mercy' can be a strong player for us." She continued, 'Parks and Recreation' has proven to be a steady performer for us on Thursday nights and gets better with every show. We look forward to continuing our creative collaboration with Amy Poehler, Greg Daniels, Michael Schur, and the rest of the great cast and production team."

BENJAMIN BRATT TO RETURN TO 'LAW & ORDER' AS DETECTIVE REYNALDO CURTIS

Universal City, Ca., October 23rd, 2009.               Benjamin Bratt, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Detective Reynaldo Curtis on "Law & Order," will make a special return appearance as as Detective Curtis in an upcoming episode, it was announced today by series creator and executive producer Dick Wolf.

Bratt was a series regular on "Law & Order" for four seasons (1995-99) and in addition to the Emmy nomination, earned two ALMA Awards for playing Detective Curtis. In the upcoming episode, Detective Curtis will be reunited with his former "boss" Lt. Anita van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson). "Law & Order" airs Fridays at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC.

"I am thrilled that Ben is coming back for a return appearance. He joined us for our recent 20th anniversary celebration and it was like he never left," Wolf said.

Bratt most recently starred in the A&E series "The Cleaner." He has also appeared in numerous feature films including "Traffic," "Clear and Present Danger" and "Miss Congeniality."

"Law & Order," in its 20th season, won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series and tied the record for consecutive outstanding series nominations (11, tied with "Cheers" and "M*A*S*H).

RICKY GERVAIS TO HOST 'THE GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS' ON JAN. 17

Universal City, Ca., October 26th, 2009.               Multi-talented Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Ricky Gervais ("The Invention of Lying," "The Office") will host "The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards" on Sunday, January 17, 2010 on NBC. This year's show will be broadcast live coast-to-coast from 5-8 p.m. (PT) and 8-11 p.m. (ET) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. This marks the first time the telecast has had a host since 1995.

"Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host. I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don't turn down," said Gervais.

"Ricky is certainly one of the funniest people on the planet and has provided some of the most hilarious and memorable awards show moments in recent memory," said Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios. "His unique comedic style will enhance the only awards show that brings together television and film stars to celebrate entertainment's biggest night of the year."

"We are delighted to have Ricky Gervais as the host on our show," said Philip Berk, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "He'll bring his unique brand of humor and charm to what will continue to be a fast paced award show."

Gervais is probably best known for his role as David Brent on the BBC version of "The Office." Gervais produced, wrote (with Stephen Merchant), directed and acted on the mock documentary series from 2001-2003. Twelve episodes and a two-part Christmas special later, "The Office" is consigned to broadcasting history as one of the most perfectly crafted comedy series in British TV history. The show was showered with awards and critical acclaim and Gervais became a household name. Gervais and Merchant teamed up again in 2005 to create the award-winning series "Extras" in which he played an aspiring actor.

Following his success from "The Office," Gervais embarked on his first live standup show "Animals," based on his fascination with the animal kingdom. He spent much of 2004 on tour around the U.K. with his follow-up standup act the, highly acclaimed "Politics." Both shows became best selling DVDs. In 2007, Gervais' stand-up show "Fame" became the fastest-selling British comedy tour of all time. In 2008, Gervais took to the stage again and received an Emmy nomination for his special "Ricky Gervais: Out of England- The Stand-Up."

This year Gervais wrote, directed and starred in the feature film "The Invention of Lying" alongside Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Louis C.K., Rob Lowe and Tina Fey (NBC's "30 Rock").

"Cemetery Junction" - Gervais' second film as writer and director and his first film co-written and directed with Stephen Merchant, is slated to be released in April 2010. He is currently in development with HBO for "The Ricky Gervais Show" - an animation of his record-breaking audio books, scheduled to air on the network early 2010. Gervais is also in development with Illumination ("The Simpsons Movie") for "Flanimals," movie - based on his award-winning children's book.

Nominations for "The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards" will be announced at 8 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday, December 15.

The excitement is building as the first group of presenters are announced for "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards," hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and airing live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

ABC ANNOUNCES SPECIAL PROGRAMMING AND APPEARANCES LEADING UP TO CMA AWARDS

New York, N.Y., October 26th, 2009.               ABC, the official broadcast home of "Country Music's Biggest Night,(tm)" is getting the festivities started early with programming celebrating the best of Country Music leading up to the big gala, "The 43rd Annual CMA Awards." The show will be broadcast live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Tuesday, October 27 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) - "Dancing with the Stars Results Show" - It's Country Music night at "Dancing" when Taylor Swift, who sold more records in 2008 than any artist in the world, makes a very special appearance on the release date of the Platinum Edition of her "Fearless" album to premiere a brand-new single, "Jump, Then Fall," as well as perform her worldwide chart-topping hit, "Love Story." Taylor, who at 19 is the youngest artist in history to be nominated for the Country Music Association's prestigious Entertainer of the Year Award, is currently nominated for four Country Music Association Awards and 6 American Music Awards.

Tuesday, November 3 (7:00-9:00 a.m., ET) - "Good Morning America" - CMA Awards co-host and five-time CMA Award winner and the first country music artist in history to achieve 10 No.-1 singles from their first two albums, Carrie Underwood will be stopping in New York to make an appearance on "Good Morning America." Her highly anticipated new album, "Play On," featuring the current smash single, "Cowboy Casanova," is being released on November 3.

Sunday, November 8 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) - "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" - Country Music sensation Kellie Pickler joins the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team in Beavercreek, Ohio, to tell James Terpenning, a wheelchair sports champion and mentor to disabled Iraqi War veterans, that he and his family will have their home rebuilt in seven days. Kellie will be the celebrity volunteer for this build and will perform her new song at the family's reveal.

Tuesday, November 10 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) - "In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Bright Lights. Big Stars. All Access Nashville." - ABC News' Robin Roberts sits down wish some of Country Music's hottest stars in this hour-long special. In addition to interviews with legendary artists Loretta Lynn, Vince Gill and Rosanne Cash, Carrie Underwood takes Roberts back to her hometown in Oklahoma where Underwood surprises her former high-school with a very big, musical surprise; Tim McGraw takes Roberts horseback riding on his family farm and opens up about his challenging childhood; and Robin Roberts joins Martina McBride and her family in their Nashville home and also spends time with the country superstar at Blackbird Studios.

Tuesday, November 10 (7:00-9:00 a.m., ET) - "Good Morning America" - Returning CMA co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will perform live outside the Sommet Center in Nashville. This concert is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, November 10 - ABCNEWS.com - ABCNEWS.com will feature a special section for "In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Bright Lights. Big Stars. All Access Nashville." The section will feature extended interviews with Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and Martina McBride, as well as additional photos and music. Viewers will be able to log onto ABCNEWS.com and vote for their favorite country song immediately following the special on Tuesday evening. America's favorite country song will be revealed live on "Good Morning America" the following morning.
