'LAW & ORDER', RETURNS FOR 19TH SEASON ON NBC

New York, N.Y., October 28th, 2008.          Wolf Films/Universal Media Studios' "Law & Order," the 1997 Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Drama Series, the record holder for the most consecutive Best Series nominations (eleven, tied with "Cheers" and "M*A*S*H") and the longest-running drama series currently on television, returns for its 19th season Wednesday, November 5, 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on NBC.

In the season premiere titled "Rumble," a stockbroker is beaten to death in broad daylight, causing a "rumble" of epic proportions between the deceased's family and the faction responsible for his death. Subsequent episodes include guest appearances from Ned Beatty, Sherry Stringfield, Jena Malone, Katee Sackhoff, Tom Everett Scott and Vivica A. Fox, among others.

"Law & Order" is the longest-running police series and second longest-running drama series in the history of television. It has also turned into one of entertainment's preeminent brands, with its successful spin-offs "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," as well as ancillary media platforms including DVDs, interactive games and a hardcover book.

Filmed entirely on location in New York City, "Law & Order" looks at crime and justice from a unique two-tiered perspective. In the first half-hour, Detectives Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) investigate crimes and apprehend suspects under the supervision of their no-nonsense lieutenant, Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson). In the second half-hour, the focus shifts to the criminal courts, where D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) oversees his staff of prosecutors, including Chief A.D.A. Michael A. Cutter (Linus Roache) and A.D.A. Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza) as they navigate the complex and challenging legal system.

“AMERICA’S MOST WANTED” VISITS THE DARK SIDE OF THE CITY OF ANGELS

Los Angeles, Ca., October 29th, 2008.           Television’s premiere crime-busting show takes viewers into the not-so-glamorous side of Hollywood as AMERICA’S MOST WANTED: AMERICA FIGHTS BACK helps hunt for a truly frightening fugitive in Los Angeles Saturday, Nov. 1 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

AMW host John Walsh and special guest LAPD Chief William Bratton will share the latest developments in the case of “The Grim Sleeper,” a serial killer who earned his nickname after committing at least 11 violent murders in the 1980s, only to resurface and strike again 13 years later in 2007.

Walsh will also take viewers to the mean streets populated by the city’s homeless, and ask them to help solve the brutal and senseless murder of John McGraham. McGraham was a fixture on the streets of L.A.’s Koreatown neighborhood, a man who’d been given a raw deal by life but was making the best of it. The community considered him to be one of their own, and protected him as best they could. In early 2007, someone doused the helpless man with gasoline and set him ablaze, leaving him to die in the streets.

AMW has helped law enforcement capture more than 1000 dangerous criminals. The series is produced by STF Productions, Inc., and Lance Heflin is executive producer.

"We are thrilled to share in the exhilaration that these deserving winners must feel," said Silverman. "NBC Universal looks forward to continuing our tradition of supporting this vital film festival that supports creative filmmakers and strengthens our crucial diversity efforts."

Co-winners Del Toro, Johnson, Luera and Odlum will receive a pilot script commitment from Universal Media Studios. The other finalists for Best Film this year were Owen Thomas ("The Road"), Fabian Marquez ("Little Bones"), Iman Zawahry ("Tough Crowd") and Deon Hayman ("The Don of Virgil Jr. High").

Paula Madison, Executive Vice President of Diversity, NBC Universal said, "Comedy Short Cuts gets better every year and allows NBC Universal to use its many assets encourage young, diverse and promising film artists to gain a wider audience. The program excels as an essential component in our continuing campaign to develop more diversity within the industry. We are so proud of today's winners."

Corporate support of this year's initiative came from sponsors such as Showbiz Software, American Airlines, and Coca-Cola North America.

"We are proud to sponsor the 2008 NBC Comedy Short-Cuts Film Festival as part of our commitment to emerging talent in television and film," says Steve Bizenov, Vice President, Sales & Software Development for Media Services, who oversees the company's Showbiz Software division. "We've supported the independent production industry for years by delivering better software, services and resources to indie filmmakers, so it was a natural fit for us to participate in this important initiative."

Semi-finalist films were screened in New York City in conjunction with the New York Television Festival on September 15. The event was hosted by Anthony Anderson of NBC's "Law & Order."

Last year, a blind script commitment with Universal Media Studios was presented to Tajamika Paxton and Gregory M.T. Colleton for their film "A Fat Girl's Guide to Yoga" - a film short about a plus-size African-American woman's yoga journey to lose weight. The filmmakers are currently developing projects with Universal Media Studios' Conaco Productions.

QUOTABLES FROM "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE'S "WEEKEND UPDATE WITH AMY POEHLER AND SETH MEYERS"

OCTOBER 25, 2008

CO-ANCHOR SETH MEYERS – "John McCain said this week that he does not plan to make his election night remarks in a hotel ballroom, but rather on the hotel lawn to a select group of journalists. The speech is reportedly entitled 'Hey you damn kids get off my law.'"

MEYERS – "On Wednesday, Barack Obama danced live by satellite for the "Ellen" show in an attempt to prove that he is not a Muslim, but rather very, very white."

MEYERS – "According to expense reports, Sarah Palin charged the state of Alaska over $21,000 dollars for her children to travel with her on official business. In fairness to Governor Palin, when she leaves them home alone they get pregnant."

MEYERS – "A woman in Pennsylvania who claimed that a man attacked her and carved a B on her face when he saw her McCain bumper sticker, admitted Friday that she made up the story. Still unanswered: Who did this to John McCain."
(PIC: McCain with Tattoo that reads "Obama "Hearts" Ayers")

MEYERS – "On Thursday your grandfather finally admitted that he screwed up the economy."

MEYERS – "While speaking before Congress on Thursday Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve, said he was "shocked" his ideas led to the current economic crisis and said "I still do not understand exactly how it happened." Well let me see if I can give it a shot. Banks bundled mortgages that had been given to people that wouldn't even qualify for jury duty and then sold those along with credit default swaps which are basically insurance the seller provides to the buyer in case the purchased entity loses value. However, unlike regular insurance, these swaps weren't regulated, so they failed to meet any standard of responsible business. Then, when everything collapsed, it spread like an infection, because when people are making money, they don't ask "how" they just say "yay!" But again, you're the expert."

MEYERS – "Mr. Blackwell, the creator of the infamous Worst Dressed list, died this week at the age of 86. It turns out he was caught dead in that outfit."

MEYERS – "For the first time since 1956 Daniel and not Michael is the most popular name for boys. While for the 7th year in a row the least popular name for boys is 'Al Qaeda #2.'"

MEYERS – "In Japan, an engineer has developed a sensor, which measures and translates a plant's signals, enabling a potted plant at a cafe near Tokyo to write a regular blog. Oh the Japanese, so much technology, so little being normal."

MEYERS – "Actress Rosanna Arquette, columnist Liz Smith, and Daisy
Fuentes, are among the celebrities wearing T-shirts saying, "Own Your Age," which is part of a campaign to fight age discrimination. And not to be confused with my dating website for the elderly, 'Bone Your Age Dot Com.'"

MEYERS – "A new law went into effect in New York this week in which dog owners who fail to pick up after their pets will be fined $250 dollars. Which should lead to a slight increase in people nervously looking around for cops while their dog lays one down."

MEYERS – "This week on The View, co-hosts Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar had a heated exchange that ended with Hasselbeck shouting, "You want some more Barack Obama Kool-aid?" To which former co-host Rosie O'Donnell replied "Oh yeah!" and burst through the brick wall in the back of the studio."
