UMA THURMAN, JESSE L. MARTIN, NATHAN LANE, JANE KRAKOWSKI, PETRA NEMCOVA, PAUL WILLIAMS AND MICHAEL BLOOMBERG JOIN THE ALL-STAR CAST OF NBC'S HOLIDAY SPECIAL 'A MUPPETS CHRISTMAS: LETTERS TO SANTA'

Burbank, Ca., September 25th, 2008.
Uma Thurman ("Kill Bill"), Jane Krakowski ("30 Rock"), Nathan Lane ("The Producers"), Jesse L. Martin ("Law & Order"), Petra Nemcova ("A Model Life") Paul Williams ("Georgia Rule") and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg have joined the all-star cast of NBC's upcoming holiday special "A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa" airing Wednesday, December 17 (8-9 p.m. ET).

They join the previously announced cast members include Whoopi Goldberg ("The View"), Richard Griffiths ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"), Tony Sirico ("The Sopranos"), Steve Schirripa ("The Sopranos") and Madison Pettis ("Cory in the House").

In "A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa," the Emmy and Grammy-award winning Muppets deliver an all new one-hour special filled with song and dance, mayhem and heaps of holiday high spirits. On Christmas Eve the Muppets mistakenly avert three letters from making their way to Santa Claus in the North Pole--leaving three Christmas wishes at stake.

Kermit rounds up his fearless friends to get to the North Pole before Santa makes his rounds on Christmas Eve and as usual, nothing—not even Miss Piggy's planned trip to the tropics can stand between the Muppets and a joyful Christmas. In typical Muppets fashion, chaos and humor ensue as they try to find a way to the North Pole, but will they make it in time? The cast in alphabetical order is:

Mayor Bloomberg - himself
Whoopi Goldberg - Cab driver
Richard Griffiths - Santa Claus
Jane Krakowski - Claire's mom
Nathan Lane - Officer Meany
Jesse Martin - Postal worker
Petra Nemcova - Beaker's girlfriend
Madison Pettis - Claire
Steve Schirripa - Mafia guy
Tony Sirico - Mafia guy
Uma Thurman - Joy the ticket clerk
Paul Williams - Elf

In the special, Jesse L. Martin, who plays a postal worker, opens the program with a song and dance number along with the Muppets in the post office as they are waiting in line to mail their Christmas cards. Later on, Jane Krakowski, who plays the Mother to Claire (Madison Pettis), tries to assuage her daughter --who is feeling lonely during the holidays, from befriending the Muppets who happen to live in the same building. Claire is disappointed when Gonzo reveals none of the Muppets will be around during Christmas as they are all going on vacation, leaving Claire alone with her Mother. The Muppets soon realize that the spirit of the holidays is more important than vacation, and they must do all they can to get the three letters to Santa in time for Christmas. They high-tail it in Whoopi Goldberg's taxicab to the airport, where they encounter a friendly ticket agent, Uma Thurman and a bitter airport security guard, played by Nathan Lane. Will they find a flight to reach the North Pole in time or get caught up in last minute security issues? Tune in to find out, and bring the spirit of the holidays into your living room.

NBC'S 'SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE' PREPARES A PACKED OCTOBER

New York, N.Y., September 29th, 2008.            After dominating headlines and ratings with its early launch in mid-September, NBC's "Saturday Night Live" shows no signs of slowing with six live broadcasts slated for the month of October (three live Saturday "SNL's" and three live primetime Update specials).

The traditional SNL Saturday slot will feature some of the hottest names in the business for its three October episodes.

On OCTOBER 4, Anne Hathaway hosts with musical guest The Killers. This is Hathaway's "SNL" debut. Hathaway rose to silver screen stardom with the family film hit "The Princess Diaries" and its successful sequel. She made the seamless transition to more adult roles with the award-winning and critically adored "Brokeback Mountain" opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger. She went on to star opposite Meryl Streep in the blockbuster comedy "The Devil Wears Prada" and opposite Steve Carell in this summer's hit "Get Smart." She will next be seen in Jonathan Demme's "Rachel Getting Married" which is already generating critical praise for her performance. She will also be seen in the drama "Passengers" and the romantic comedy "Bride Wars" (co-written by SNL cast member Casey Wilson).

Joining Hathaway on October 4 is musical guest The Killers. In their third SNL appearance, the band will debut songs from their forthcoming record "Day & Age" which arrives on November 25. This is the Killers' third studio record, following the Grammy-nominated platinum releases 2006's "Sam's Town" and 2004's "Hot Fuss." The lead single from "Day & Age,"-- "Human" -- is already exploding as the No. 1 most-added song on radio.

On OCTOBER 18, SNL welcomes Josh Brolin and musical guest Adele. Brolin is already generating heat for his upcoming portrayal of President George W. Bush in Oliver Stone's eagerly awaited biopic "W." Brolin will also be seen opposite Sean Penn in "Milk." Most recently, Brolin starred in the Coen Brothers' Oscar-winning "No Country For Old Men" (for which Brolin won a SAG Award as part of the Best Ensemble) and in the hit "American Gangster" opposite Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Brolin made his film debut in the enduring blockbuster comedy "The Goonies" and has gone on to star in a wide variety of films including the comedy "Flirting With Disaster" with Ben Stiller, Guillermo del Toro's "Mimic," the "Planet Terror" half of "Grindhouse" as well as the Iraq war drama "In The Valley of Elah."

20 year-old UK soul singing sensation Adele joins Brolin in making her "SNL" debut on the 18th as musical guest. Adele will perform from her critically acclaimed debut record "19." "19" debuted at No. 1 on the UK charts and was short listed for the prestigious annual Mercury Prize. Stateside, Adele is garnering major attention for her "endearing charm and powerhouse pipes" (Washington Post).

Finally, on OCTOBER 25, "SNL" features the award-winning star of the Emmy-winner for Best Drama "Mad Men," Jon Hamm with musical guest Coldplay. Hamm has become a breakout star on the critically lauded cable series "Mad Men" and has received a Golden Globe, for his performance as well as a SAG and Emmy nomination for Best Actor. He will next be seen opposite Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connolly in the upcoming sci-fi remake "The Day The Earth Stood Still." Hamm's previous credits include the indie comedy "Kissing Jessica Stein" "Space Cowboys" and "We Were Soldiers."

Returning to SNL as musical guest is one of the biggest bands in the world – Coldplay. The band will perform from their latest album "Viva La Vida" which, upon its release this summer was the No 1 selling album in 36 countries. In addition to its sales success (breaking iTunes records for downloads and pre-orders), the record is garnering significant critical praise for its "confident majesty" (Entertainment Weekly) and its balance of experimentation and mass appeal, prompting the UK music magazine Q to call it "an emphatic success."

In addition to the star studded Saturdays, "SNL" is ready for primetime with "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" -- three LIVE primetime half-hours beginning October 9 at 9:30pm ET. These primetime special editions will be anchored by the show's signature "Weekend Update." This marks a return to the NBC Thursday night lineup for "SNL," which produced similar live "Update"-centered broadcasts in 2001.

QUOTABLES FROM 'SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE'S WEEKEND UPDATE WITH AMY POEHLER & SETH MEYERS' SEPTEMBER 27, 2008.

"WEEKEND UPDATE" CO-ANCHOR AMY POEHLER: "To discuss the Wall Street bailout plan, President Bush on Thursday convened an historic summit that included John McCain, Barack Obama, and senior members of Congress. Afterward, their efforts were commemorated with this banner. [A 'photo' of McCain, Bush and Obama with the banner "Nothing Accomplished" hanging behind them]

POEHLER: "Critics of the bailout plan say it will save Wall Street, while it will do virtually nothing to help out Main Street. And as always, you're on your own, Martin Luther King Boulevard."

"WEEKEND UPDATE" CO-ANCHOR SETH MEYERS: "Treasury secretary Henry Paulson said that the proposed bailout plan will cost taxpayers $700 billion dollars. To give you an idea of how much money that is, I can't give you an idea of how much money that is."

MEYERS: "The first presidential debate took place last night, and earlier in the week Barack Obama said he would be at the debate whether John McCain showed up or not. Marking the first time in history that a black man was more eager to go to Mississippi than a white one."

POEHLER: "Police in West Virginia charged a man with one count of battery after he passed gas at one of the officers. Meaning the Supreme Court may have to revisit the landmark case of 'Smelt It v. Dealt It.'"

MEYERS: "As the election approaches, both candidates have been relying more and more on the support of their party leaders. Here to comment on the race is one such leader — the 42nd president of the United States, Bill Clinton."

DARRELL HAMMOND AS PRES. BILL CLINTON: "Thank you Seth. Thank you Amy. And most especially, thank you [musical guest] Duffy. I'm here tonight because our nation is in the midst of a great crisis. People ask me, who can propel America out of this economic freefall and put us back on track? And I tell them; Barack Obama is the ONLY democratic nominee for president."

MEYERS: "That doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement."

HAMMOND AS CLINTON: "I don't think I could be any more clear. I belong to the Democratic Party. Barack Obama is also in the Democratic Party. And I am not a party wrecker. I love parties. A lot of times I'll show up at a party, and people will say, 'Man, this party was beat till you got here.' Just yesterday I asked somebody, 'hey, do you party?' So you can see where my support lies.

MEYERS: "So you support Barack Obama for President of the United States."

HAMMOND AS CLINTON:(laughing) "Let me just lay it out. I support Barack Obama … is something I've heard from people all over this country. Look, what this country needs is change. Come January, we cannot have the same President."

MEYERS: "Well of course we can't have the same president. It would be a change whether it's Obama or McCain."

HAMMOND AS CLINTON: "Hey, that's true. I didn't even think about that. That is a great point. John McCain would also be a change. But look, I'm not here to bash John McCain."

MEYERS: "Well, you haven't been."

HAMMOND AS CLINTON: "That's right. I'm not gonna trash John McCain just 'cause he's a Republican or a war hero or a great friend who is hilarious and cool. I for one respect those things. Still, there are many things we disagree on. For instance, Senator McCain likes the show 'CSI.' Whereas I love 'Californication.'"

MEYERS: "Well there might be qualities about John McCain that you respect. But do you honestly believe that Governor Sarah Palin is prepared to be vice-president?"

HAMMOND AS CLINTON: "Look, sometimes women will be uncomfortable doing something at first. But I have found, with enough persuasion, they will come around."

MEYERS: "I'm sorry, I'm still confused. It almost sounds like you're endorsing the McCain-Palin ticket."

HAMMOND AS CLINTON: "Seth, I'll say it one last time. There is only one man for this job."

(A PAUSE)

MEYERS: "And...?"
HAMMOND AS CLINTON: "And watch 'Californication.' The sex scenes are so real that the guy had to sex rehab."

MEYERS: President Bill Clinton, everyone.

POEHLER: "A farmer in Ohio has carved a corn maze in his field in the likeness of Sarah Palin. The way it works is you enter the maze, and then suddenly realize you're in way over your head."

MEYERS: "Animal rights group PETA is urging Ben and Jerry's to replace the milk they use in their ice cream with human breast milk. After which, Ben and Jerry's introduced their new flavor, Chocolate Chip Mink… cuz they're not gonna use breast milk."

MEYERS: "Nearly 300 tow trucks participated Sunday in a parade through New York in an attempt to break a record. The record? Least gay parade."

POEHLER: "A Japanese artist is creating "Tree Huts" in New York's Madison Square Park, which resemble children's tree houses, and are meant for thinking, dreaming and remembering. But will be used for sleeping, urinating and masturbating."

MEYERS: "Sunday's 60th Primetime Emmy Awards were hosted by the five reality show nominees in an apparent attempt to make us hate television."

MEYERS: "Police in Portland, Oregon told a woman who was skating nude to stop after construction workers complained. Which raises the question: what in God's name has happened to construction workers?"

MEYERS: "A New Jersey man is suing two men for allegedly using Facebook to organize an attack on him at a bar. By the time police arrived, the man had been Super Poked beyond recognition."

POEHLER: "Scientists reported this week that a newly discovered chicken-sized dinosaur that lived in North America survived by eating termites. The scientists arrived at this conclusion using a technique they call 'guessing.'"

POEHLER: "A man in New York State pleaded guilty to public lewdness this week after he took his pants off before going into a doughnut shop. The man said he only did it so he could carry more donuts."

"To discuss the Wall Street financial crisis, President Bush invited Barack Obama and John McCain to a meeting at the White House this afternoon at 4:00. Or as McCain calls it, 'Just after dinner.'"
